Installing the EMU to create models on my PC

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Deviation, and I have been looking though past forums, but have not found clear instructions on how to setup and install the emulator on my PC.

More specifically I'm trying to setup and run the Devo8 EMU and create new models though my PC where the editing is easier than on the actual TX, and then load these model onto my Devo8s.

Can someone refer me to a forum with the full details on setting up the Devo8 emulator?

Thank you in advanced.

Not a big deal: unzip the emulator exe package and the whole filesystem (starting with the filesystem directory) into the same directory and run it...

Thank you for the reply.

I did as you said, but I still can't run the emulator. I would see a command screen and then it would disappear and stop running.

I have attached the a screen shot of the folder where I saved the file system and and the EMU package. Can you please let me know if I'm missing something? (This is from the nightly build a few days ago.)

Thanks again for your help.

Are you using the filesystem for Devo 8?

the devo emulator should have a dir structure like:
emu_devo8.xxxx.exe
*.dll
filesystem/devo8/
	media
	models
	language
	...
you have everything flat in the top level directory which is the issue.

Actually I used to get the emulator working fine w/ a flat file structure for devo7e
But I get a big USB icon on screen upon startup, hit ENTER and I can get back to normal deviationtx logo

though this may not be the case for devo8

PhracturedBlue,
Is there indeed any document or manual for emulator? e.g. key settings

It took me much time to figure out the corresponding keyboard buttons for the first time

and it surprised me a lot that the emu will terminate when I press "\" button

Yes the key-bindings are in the manual. In the upcoming release the filesystem will be packaged with the emulator making start-up as easy as unzip and click

PhracturedBlue,

I changed the file structure like you mentioned (the FS is Devo8), and the emulator came up, but then disappeared again after about 5 seconds.

I have attached a picture of the File structure you mentioned and a screen shot of the last line of code in the command screen, before the emulator shuts down and disappears.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions I can try.

If you saw my previous post, ignore it.
Try this:
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52854517/dev...8-v3.0.0-0c78016.zip

I just built and tested that it works. No need for a filesystem as it is included.

I tried running based on what you sent, and the command screen cam up and was running code, and then just stopped. No emulator ever came up.

I'm running Windows 7 on my PC, could there be any restrictive settings that do not allow it to run?

Thanks again for your help!
