V977 for adventurous! was created by victzh
WARNING! Highly experimental, tie your heli down before trying!

Here are 2 builds for Devo10 and Devo7E with KN (V977) protocol added. Protocol has 8 channels - 4 regular - Throttle, Aileron, Elevator, and Rudder, and 4 binary, which turn on/off V977 features: Dual Rate, Throttle Hold, Idle Up (I suppose), and 3G gyro. Zero values are - Normal rate, Throttle active, Normal mode, 6G gyro mode.

I did this by published document and partial SPI trace, I don't have a heli to check yet. I uploaded it to my Devo10 and tried that it does not hang, that's it.

Please, tie your heli down if you try this, I am not responsible for damage!

Please, report your results - did not bind, did not fly, whatever.

Here you go but seriously, tie it down! When I first try a new protocol on small quadcopters they usually end up in a weird place, sometimes ruining something on the way.

This is Devo12 build. I had one positive report on binding it with V977, but in a peculiar manner - when you open the page for binding, you switch protocol first to HM830, then back to KN and only then bind. Then it binds and basically works.

I have my heli departed from LA today, so I will soon be able to iron out these kinks myself.

Smell like packet size is not yet correct. For the Syma, SkyWalr protocol, Hexfet and testers had the same problem. The difference between these 2 protocols was the data packet size if I don't say stupidity

Hi victzh,

Thanks for helping.
But I can't bind my Devo8 to V977,I'm using NRF24L01 not NRF24L01+/NRF24L01P,is that a problem? NRF24L01 dose not support 250Kb/S air rate right?

Yes unfortunatly the simple nRF24L01 is not supporting the 250 kbits. Only the + edition

Hi victzh,
Good news! it works!
I follow your instruction, change protocol to HM830 then change to KN protocol and binding,it works,it can use NRF24L01 to bind V977,no problem!
But the default setting seems 6G mode, very stable,I don't know how to change mode?(or just set parameter?)
thanks for great job.

@yoshi163 The protocol name is KN (which is mentioned in the first message of this thread).

@dc59 - you most probably have +, they phased out original long time ago. And even this is not a problem - KN protocol can use 1Mbps data rate, it's just not configured to do so in my code. But it's a matter of very small change and recompile. I will think about making it an option.
