I have an idea regarding the “Start up Warnings”.

Currently, it is only possible to set a few levers and switches to generate a warning during start up.

My suggestion is as follows:

1) Select menu “Warning”
2) Select a sub menu “Current positions” (New)
3) Show a text telling the user to put all sticks, levers and switches in the desired positions
4) Select % of tolerance for each channel
5) Press “Confirm”

What this procedure should do, is take all present positions of all input channels as safety positions, within the tolerance as selected in 4).

For example:

Channel 6 "|--- --- --- --- --- --- --- < --- | --- >--- --- --- --- ---|"
Position "0---10---20---30---40---50---60---70---80---90---100"


So in this case, a lever would be assigned to channel 6, and the required startup position is like 60%, tolerance 10%. So the startup warning will be activated if this lever is below 50% or above 70%.

This way, the user could very easy assign all channels as warning positions.

In the safety section you can define any input to have one of three positions (min, zero, max). I can not imagine any situation why I should need more.
I can define safety values for every stick and for every switch. So all inputs I could use are monitored and with the mixers I can make sure that the motor is cut off and the landing gears stay out. What more?
Adding a page to configure the safety section would be no challenge, I think (I am not sure about the reason we don't have one actually). But what should the tolerance be good for?
It looks like an interesting idea but I can not imagine its use.
Can you tell me some more, especially in which cases it can be useful? Btw, I am more or less only heli flyer. I know that with planes and gliders other topics are important.

I may be an exception, but its use is as follows:

I am flying long range FPV, where my model follows a pre-programmed path by waypoints. So I launch my model, make sure all systems are go and flip the switch to path navigation. As there is no need for controlling my model anymore, I switch off my transmitter.

When my model returns to home, and it gets into sight, I switch on my radio again to get control for landing. When I switch on, I have to make sure I have the following settings:

- Throttle: about 30%
- Elevator and rudder: neutral
- Gear: up
- Flight control switch: Stabilized mode
- and a few other settings.

What I proposed will make it easy to program the start up warnings. I make sure all my levers, switches and sticks are in the correct position, go to this menu, specify the tolerances (e.g. throttle +/- 10%, gear 0%, etc) and confirm. Done. Don't have to specify each channel separately, cannot make a mistake because all switches are in the positions they should be. If I can only assign min-0-max, it will not be possible to assign throttle with 30 or 40%.

Ok, I can understand this (although I ask myself: were is the fun let something flying autonomously under normal circumstances? In case of any emergency it is ok...).
I am not sure if your wish will be supported enough to be put on the todo-list nor if someone will code this. As a workaround you could possibly define a switch (you can put a safety value on) and use it in every mixers for the functions you will have defined values. This way you can make sure your model will not do something surprising when the rx is rebound, but you will have to make sure that sticks and switches have the proper position when you switch this special switch. Maybe no real option for your purpose...

I do like the idea of "here are all my safe positions, lock 'em in", just for ease of use. Would a default +/- 10% deviation (no pun intended) work for switches? So no need to specify a range as such, just chuck the sticks in about the right area?

Yes, it would to. Switches have only two possible values: min or max (without the need of any tolerance). So adding a tolerance would not make a difference for switches.
The other point you mentioned was discussed earlier in connection with trimming. For plane fliers it seems necessary to trim their control inputs differently in every flight mode and will be a good way to get the plane behaving neutral and saving these values. We have discussed a way to save the actual stick values on the triggering of a switch and transfer them later as trim values (so the neutral stick positions will result in those values the controls had when the switch was triggered). As far as I know it is not realized yet.

EDIT: Storing all positions can have an impact on the model config file size eventually.

You are right - and I am too.

Internally deviation handles every switch position like a switch which has two positions: "min" or "max". So a three-position-switch like mix has the positions mix0, mix1 and mix2. Mix0 can have the values "min" (when mix switch in position 1 or 2 = not in pos. 0) or "max" (when its position is 0) - similar for the others.

Sorry for my too short and unspecific post. I hope it is more clear now what I wanted to say.

It is off topic, but here is the fun:

I am flying 10, 15 Km away, with a HD camera on board, looking at the countryside from a different perspective. It is incredible fun to plan and plot the route, sending the plane on it's mission and looking at the result afterwards. You can have a look at this:

I am still struggling with the start up warnings. Can someone teach me how to program this:

Throttle should be less than min
Channel 7 should be set to 35%
Fmod should be set to pos 1
Rudd / DR should be pos 1

If not, it should generate warnings on start up.
