Issue with range after installing skyartec mod

So I just finished installing the xl2500-d03 to my devo 7e. I've got it all working. All controls are responsive, however there is basically no range. If I turn on the tx and have it literally inches away from rx it works, but then if i move the tx at all it cuts out. Any clues to the cause of the problem?

Did you enable PA in hardware.ini ?

has_pa-cc2500=1

Increase power in your model config
