Using both Devo8 and Devo12 was created by magic_marty
Got a quick question about using the 8 and the 12 on the same models.
I recently got a devo12 but have been flying with the devo8 for years now so what i did was simply copy all my model files from my 8 over to the 12 but when i went to connect the 12 to my quad it wont connect to the rx...Do i have to re-bind the 12 to all my models? If so will they no longer connect to the devo8? I am wanting to have the option to pick up ether tx and go fly with it without having to rebind it every time if possible..I was hoping by copying the model files the rx would connect to the 12 as it does the 8...Is there any way to do what i am wanting to do?
Thanks all..

If you set a TX id in hardware.ini (Use a nightly build), you'll be able to use either one without having to rebind. The format is 'txid = 0123ABCD', and the ID should be in hex; 0-9, A-F.

Load the nightly to both Devo8 and Devo12. Set the same 'txid = xxxxxxxx' in 'hardware.ini' for both Tx and rebind one Tx to all models. After that both Tx will bind to same Rx.

Only thing is i do not see anything in the hardware.ini that says txid....or does it show up after it is loaded to the tx?
Also do i need to upgrade the library with the nightly as well? I still don't see anywhere it says txid all i see is the fixed id on the binding page is that what you are talking about?
This is what my hardware.ini looks like...
;Only useful for transmitters with an after-market vibration motor
;enable-haptic=1
;
;switch_types: 3x2, 3x1, 2x2
;extra-switches=
;
[modules]
; there is no need to enable the cyrf6936 module unless
; it is wired to an alternate port. It is Enabled automatically otherwise
; enable-cyrf6936 = B12
; has_pa-cyrf6936 = 1
; enable-a7105 = A13
; has_pa-a7105 = 1
; enable-cc2500 = A14
; has_pa-cc2500 = 1
; enable-nrf24l01 = A14
; has_pa-nrf24l01 = 1
; enable-multimod = A13

I got it working i believe..after reading thru the link you posted i needed to "add" the tx=id to the hardware.ini then i rebind my rx to ether the 8 or 12 ...i did so and checked and so far the rx will connect to both transmitters
Thanks all for your help and sorry for any confusion on my end..
