Modifying the Devo 7E to use v2X2 protocol? was created by StoningtonQB
Hello, friends... I have just acquired a Devo 7E and I want to set it up to work for v2X2. I understand that I have to add a NRF24L01 board, but can I buy one that has a uFL connector and step it up with a uFL to RP-SMA connector to a WiFi antenna? I was looking at
this one
in particular but I don't know if this will work. I know I have to flash Deviation, and I can do the diode bridge but this is where I want to get this right and need some help.

That's a good one! You should be able to pick up the antenna dongle and antenna on eBay, and you've got the right description for those parts. There is excellent additional info at
Daryoon's Devo 7e
.

OK that is great to hear. I did not feel like cutting an antenna open and soldering, especially if I switch to a different quad in the future.
So, what do I do about the dipole antenna inside the controller? Do I remove that or leave it in? I can't imagine it would have any use after I add an 8dB WiFi antenna.

When you add the NRF24L01 module, you keep the existing CYRF module and its antenna. Every transmitter module must have its own antenna. Daryoon has some great photos of how you can modify the existing stubby antenna to use with the new wifi antenna (essentially trim it down so you can out the RP-SMA connector in). You need to pull the existing antenna into the shell and lay out horizontally.
