Buddy box - any other TX ? was created by Rand__
Hi,

I have a deviated 12s and am looking to set up a buddy box for my little one.
I happen to have a Devo 4 from a RTF Kit - can I set set up as buddy box on my 12s?

If not, what are the requirements for a capable buddy box TX?
Does it need to run Deviation?
Any recommendations on a smaller TX thats usable?

I guess I will need a trainer cable - that will need to fit the 12s and whatever else i get?

Thanks:)

the devo 4 has a trainer port. If you can set a PPM signal than you can use this tx with your 12s.
PS Didn't you get a trainer cable with your 12s?

Excellent, ill give it a try.

So a trainer port and the ability to set to PPM is all thats needed?

And i bought it (12s) used, but I'll check wheter the cable was included, thanks:)
Edit: Found it, great, thanks for the pointer.

a ppm signal is all that is needed for the 12s to use theat tx (in this case the devo 4) as a buddy box.
In the 12s set your PPM IN to channel. push on channel and set your Trainer switch and PPM1 to PPM4 to CH1 to CH4.

Make shure the Devo 4 sends 1 to 1 stick movement to these 4 channels.

O i forgot,
I used channel because i can change stick behaviour in the trainee (devo4) tx, You probably could use stick as well then the sticks of the devo 4 would behave like the devo 12s. Al least i think this is true, i never used this.

good luck.

The manuals (look at the menu on the left) have a section on setting up deviationtx for buddy box usage.

You'll need to figure out how to get your Devo 4 into slave mode. That varies from Tx to Tx and manufacturer to manufacturer. On deviation, it's easy - just set the model protocol to "PPM". Some of them have weird things like having the trainer cord plugged in at both ends, or only your end, to get the right mode.

Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.

My remotely piloted vehicle ("drone") is a yacht.
