cannot bind devo 10 with nrf24l01+ was created by jjk836
Hi,
I used this tutorial to add a nrf24 to my devo 10 from ebay http://www.ebay.de/itm/252391925039 announced as NRF24L01+ PA LNA SMA V3.1
http://www.deviationtx.com/forum/how-to/5223-walkera-devo-10-module-install-with-nrf24-a7105
I changed the hardware.ini and the module seems to be recognized. I tried to pull each of the seven connectors individually and get the "missing module" error on startup, except if I pull the CE which is wired to VDD which is not noticed on startup.
I tried to bind a syma x5c-1 two different cheerson cx-10 a cx-30 and a jjrc h8mini. It doesn't work. I have tried version 4.0.1 (which doesn't support symax) version 5.0.0 and the latest nightly build deviation-devo10-v5.0.0-481a401.
Either I'm missing something very obvious or the module is broken. Any other idea what to look for? Logfiles or so?
Your help is highly appreciated..

When you first turn on the TX, do you get the missing Module error now? If not, then when you look at the model setup protocol for the Syma, do you see a "*" (asterisk) in front of the protocol name?
If you are still getting the missing module error, you will need to resolve that hardware problem before you can use any protocols associated with the TX modules involved and they will display an "*" before the name of the protocol ("*Syma"). Sometimes it helps if you have detailed photos of the Devo connections as well as a shot showing all the wiring.

I don't get the error and there is no * in front of the SymaX protocol selection. I think the hardware is fine. It just doesn't bind. The quad doesn't stop blinking.

Agree, the hardware sounds to be fine, unless there is a problem with the antenna. Did you try bind it within about a meter of the quad? If that didn't work, maybe you can describe in detail the steps you take to bind.
I know it's not rocket surgery but sometimes my little quads get persnickety too! So I choose the model, go to the main menu and power off my Devo. Then for my jjrc H20 I can turn on the quad, turn on the Devo, there are a series of blinks and the countdown on the screen, then it binds. That should match up with your jjrc H8, I think. Let us know what you're seeing.
Note you may need to clear the fixed ID on the Devo.

I tried your suggestion but there isn't any reaction in the quad at all. So I think I will spend another 3 Euros and try a different module. Will come back on this in a few days.

The new module perfectly works. So either the first module was defective or it is somehow related to the PA. The new model doesn't have one (neither has the stock TX).

Just in case anyone finds this with the same problem....
I bought a module from eBay, soldered it in and it didn't work. I checked all my soldering, re-flashed the nightly build, modified the hardware.ini but still could not bind to the E010 using my Devo 10.
I bought the same module again assuming it was just a bad module. Re-wired everything from scratch. Still not working.
I started to think maybe the module I was buying was too cheap, but then I looked up some other tutorials on getting one of these modules working and found my solution. If you solder a 10uF electrolytic capacitor across Vcc and Gnd of the module you'll boost the power available to it. This worked for me and now I cna bind my devo 10 to the E010.
Full instructions:
1. Wire module according to: static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/4...0for%20Devo%2010.jpg
instructable showing capacitor addition: www.instructables.com/id/NRF24L01-Fixing-Connection-Issues/
2. Flash the latest nightly build for your Devo 10
3. Modify the hardware.ini file to uncomment the lines (remove the semi colons):
; enable-nrf24l01 = A14
; has_pa-nrf24l01 = 1
IF you have wired it using the above diagram then change A14 to A13.
4. Setup a model on the transmitter to use MJXq protocol and change the format to E010 (click ENT while the protocol is selected and scroll across... if you don't see E010 try a different nightly build)
5. Click Re-init to bind tot he quad
6. If it doesn't work try a different power output
7. Download and add a pre-made model.ini for the best results www.deviationtx.com/forum/model-configs/...devo-10-mode-2#54067
