Buddybox with fs-i6 problem was created by KArlk.
Hello!
So i bought a cable to connect my fs-i6 with my devo 7e with deviation, so i can use the student / teacher mode. When I connect the fs-i6 as a student to the 7e everything seems fine in the stick channel monitor. But if I want to go the other way around (fs-i6 as teacher and 7e as student) the stick input in the "Display" function are jumping all over the place.
I assume it has to do with the PPM settings (Center PW, Delta PW, Notch PW and Frame Size) but sadly I couldn't find any information on what the right settings are. So am I right and just need to find the right settings or is it an completely different problem? Has anyone tried something similar and has the right settings for the flysky ppm input?
Thanks in advance

So I just updated the fs-i6 to the flyplus 1.7.5 firmware thinking maybe the older flyplus version I had on there would cause the problem. Still the same problem, devo 7E as master works fine, when I configure it as slave the fs-i6 just gets random, jumping inputs.
If anyone has an idea what might be happening I'd be glad to hear it.

The PPM timing is pretty standard and doesn't normally need to be changed. The settings you mention are for PPM output. If you've set up PPM In for slave and it's not working maybe post the model file. Someone may spot something.

The model file is unchanged, I took a new one and just set the protocol to ppm, but here it is anyway. Maybe it is a problem on the fs-i6 side, it is just strange to me that no one seems to have the same problem as me. Maybe the combination of the transmitters is a strange one or I might have faulty hardware (which would be weird because it works one way but not the other way).

A different model is needed for the master. Set the protocol to match the aircraft and bind to the aircraft. Set "PPM In" to Channel and click on that button to configure a a trainer switch.
The fs-i6 must be set to output PPM.

I think there is a misunderstanding. Using the Devo 7e as master works fine, when I use the Devo 7e as slave the problem accurs. I posted the model settings of the Devo 7e as slave, I don't even know how to get the model files from the fs-i6 (in this case master) to the PC.

Yes I had it backwards. What firmware is on the 7e? The ppm implementation is changed in the nightly builds from the 5.0 implementation so please try both.

The 7e was on the 5.0.0 stable build. Today I updated to the 2018-08-09 nightly build by copying the the files onto the 7e while in usb mode. Same thing. Devo as master works fine, devo as slave and the stick input is jumping like crazy.

To upgrade the 7e first use usb mode to backup the models folder. Then flash the firmware (dfu file) using the deviation installer or dfuse. Then use usb mode to copy the filesystem (including protocols folder) to the 7e. Finally copy the backed up models to the models folder.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I installed it now the proper way but the problem still persists. Also the version number at the startup screen and in the "about deviation" menu are gone, is this normal for nightlys or did I screw up somewhere?

Have a look at
this post
. The FS-i6 uses separate pins for PPM in and PPM out, while the 7e uses the same pin for both. Not sure if tying the two fs-i6 PPM pins together would work since PPM out may always be driven. May need a different cable.

Very interesting. I tested the ouput of the fs-i6 and it seems like the PPM Out signal is always send, even when the "student" mode is turned off. I'll have to modify my cable or get a new one, to test if it works, if only the PPM In Pin is connected to the fs-i6.
Thanks so much!
