PROBLEM WITH DEVO 8 RECOGNITION was created by clearprop88
My computer doesn't recognize my Devo 8 as a removable drive.
Everything else works OK.
I can update the FW, but can't get the computer to recognize it as a drive, so I can't transfer the FS files to it.
I hold the ENT button, and power on the TX, but the computer doesn't see it as a drive.
Is there some other way to force the computer to see it as a drive?
My Devo 6 works fine, I can update the FW, and transfer the FS files to it.
So I would rule out computer or Windows 7 problems.
I just thought of something that may be the problem.
I didn't load in the Deviation FW yet.
Does it have to have the Deviation FW loaded in before the computer sees it as a removeable drive?
Since I was having the problem I didn't load it in because I was afraid I would brick it.

1. Install the deviation firmware using the Walkera 'DfuSe USB Upgrade' tool.
2. Turn on transmitter while holding 'ENT'. There should be a USB logo on the screen.
3. If this is an upgrade from the Walkera firmware, the PC should prompt to format the drive. Format using default options.
4. Unzip the deviation-fs-devoXX-x.y.z.zip to the Tx USB drive.
If you as before don't see a removable drive, you can try to look at Device Manager->Disk Management, find a drive without drive letter and try to format removable drive from there.

OK. Thanks I'll try that.
So is it true that I have to load in the Deviation FW first before it will be seen as a removeable drive?

I have another question.
I also have a Devo 6 I want to upgrade.
The FW update v2.1.0 for the Devo 6 has no FS file to go with it.
Can I use an earlier version of the FS files to go with v2.1.0 ?

No, you should use the v2.1.0 FS for the DEVO 8.

You can use Devo 8 v2.1.0 filesystem, it's actually Devo 6/8 filesystem.
