Devo10 horizontal stick centering issue was created by billmester
SOLVED!!! Please read below.

Hi,

Please take a look at the video I just made. Watch channel 4 on the channel monitor page.

Anyone seen this effect?

I have this on both of my horizontals. ~10% on the rudder, and ~3% on the Aileron. 0% on the verticals.

Calibration cannot fix this. Nothing is loose or rattling... What is this?

Thanks,
bm

I have seen similar on my Devo12 where the aux4-7 have a notch where it jumps in. I get different values when coming from one side or the other. This seems to be a mechanical problem where the pot and the notch are not connected good enough so there is some slope.
For one of the sticks this seems not acceptable.

I'll tear it to bits  (again)
If it is just a slop, I can fix it :-) I hope...

Took me an hour but it was worth it!!!!

I have added some thin, flat metal sticky tape to the pot sticks... all of them. And it simply worked. After a calibration I get 0 difference on all pots.

I added 2 layers to the horizontal and 1 layer to the verticals.
Different plastic parts... different level of sh!tness in mold quality.

There you go - nice design, sh!tty build quality.

From now on my flight will improve :woohoo:

Thx for the tip, rbe.

As the DEVO range has the same mechanics, I would recommend checking this to all of you guys out there...

Today I had some time to fly. WHAT A CHANGE :woohoo:

When I'll have some time, I'll take it apart again to take some pictures and post them here.

I dont know when though... I have just received my TREX 450 PRO DFC 3GX super combo kit today... I'll try to make the pics before I start to assemble the kit. Otherwise... it will be hopeless for some time ;-)

...aaaand here are the pics.
I have put some metal self-adhesive tape on ALL pots, both on the positioning pin and the turn shaft. This cancelled all plays. I had zero play on the verticals, but just in case, I did those too ;)
cheers,
bm

Useful mod, particularly for turn shaft. Even you have not obvious problems, it improves precision for low stick throw.

I think there is a some factory play at this assembly. In my case I can insert pot with metal self-adhesive tape on turn shaft without any additional effort, the same way as without metal self-adhesive tape.

It looks like pots don't like if they overtightened by mounting bar. It greatly increased mechanical resistance. I need scrape off some plastic from pot seat on gimbal to eliminate overtightening by mounting bar. Also, brand new gimbal bearings may be gritty. I'm thoroughly wash bearings by petrol and relube by thin oil.

You can easily test it. Move stick to max throw and release. You have to get several damped vibration. If you get only one or two, you have a problem with overtightened pot or/and gritty bearings.
