8s as slave to a futaba T6ex

The master would be a Futaba T6ex so far my thinking is switch to ppm and go. I have a trainer cord adapter for the 6ex to a 3 or whatever mm jack it is, but Im wondering does it do away with the power wires? I think futaba powers the slave. Im asking thinking that i have the right cable for the 8s. It only has two wires in it? Is that correct?
