A7105 module was created by vroomvroom
Hi, I'm about to install the A7105 into my Devo 10 but as I was using my continuity tester to check my solder joints, I noticed that when I test GND with VCC, it beeps basically telling me that these points are connected. That doesn't seem right to me. I haven't installed it into my Devo since I might fry something so I figure I'd ask. I'm wiring it up for firmware 4.0.1 nightly btw. See attachment.

So I can't say for sure without checking myself but whenever you check between ground and VCC you will be measuring the resistance of the total circuit. Depending on you're DMM's continuity check resistance set point, that may make your buzzer buzz. Turn off the continuity check and measure the actual resistances between gnd and VCC. Then check your soldering portion for resistance. A true continuity will show very low resistance. I hope this helps to determine if you soldered correctly. Gnd to VCC would not be a low resistance or a short. If it is there may be something wrong after all. Post you findings and I might be able to help further.

Okay, I tested GND to VCC. I get 5.9.

I know that the shielding is connected to ground. So when I measure from GND to the shield, I get 2.0. However, when I measure VCC to the sheilding, I get 5.9 as well. So is it safe to say that it's not a short?

I agree it's not a short, but I can't say that 5.9 ohm is right or wrong. I'm thinking you are probably ok, but it might be worth checking another transmitter if you have one or if someone else can check theirs. Unconnected of course. Sorry I don't have one to check.

So I tested it, and it is a short somewhere, cause my devo 10 won't turn on with the A7105. A bummer, I must've gotten a dud. I can't figure out where the short is. Even with all my wiring removed, when I test GND and VDD, it shorts. So it's not my wiring.

Hello,

Any chance you might feel your problem to be related to mine?

Might I have had a dud too? your symptoms seem to correspond in case you had your A710 set as default loading when turning on the Devo. This would freeze it at splash screen.

Peace
