JXD 510G goes wild with Devo 10 was created by Patrick N
I am new here, I have 4 quads- Syma x5c, Syma x11, JJRC H36, and JXD 510G. I have been able to get them all to work with my Devo 10 except the 510G. It binds but everything else is really strange acting or does not work at all. I can get the props to start with the rudder dr switch(but sometimes it works backwards, sometimes it won't stop them, just acts weird). When it starts the props it sometimes revs up on its own, sometimes when i try to take off it revs up 2 props and stops the others, sometimes it takes off and goes crazy in one direction and I can't get it back under control. The switches for lights, headless, etc. do not seem to work at all.

I have checked the ini file against the original file and it matches. I am at a loss. Anyone have any suggestions?

A lot of the toy quad manufacturers change protocols for just about every model. The supported model list show the JXD509g using the CX10 protocol with the Q282 option, but the JXD510g may be a totally different protocol, or maybe just a variant of another. If you can capture the SPI protocol stream from the transmitter, we may be able to identify the protocol, or it may need to be analyzed. In any case, it's good to test with the blades off...

Thank you for your reply. What you said makes sense, but all of the reviews I read said it was the same as the 509 with an updated body. I am new to the Devo, how does one capture the SPI protocol stream?

It isn't particularly difficult. You just need a protocol analyzer and some time. This thread describes the process.

It seems odd that the JXD509 and JXD510 are so similar but don't appear to use the same protocol. Does anyone know if the stock controller can control both birds?

When you go online and look for parts for the 510 it lists the 509 board for both. That makes me think it is the same. I have even thought of buying that board and installing it. I do have some issues with the original controller having a few issues(eg., when you yaw the quad, when you let off, it moves to the side or backward depending on the direction you yaw but you can correct it with reasonable stick inputs, it also takes full trim not to go backward and almost full not to go right). I was not sure if it was the transmitter or the quad's board.

I borrowed the 510g from my friend and tested with a Devo 10 and the 509 ini file found on the forum. It did drift a lot backward and I had to use the trim button to compensate. Other than this I did not see the issues encountered by you.

Thank you for checking this out for me. I obviously have an issue with either my ini file or the issues with my board are enhanced with the Devo.
