New to Deviation need a little help was created by CuddlesDaZombie
I've recently purchased a devo 7e with deviation installed and I'm trying to run an eachine e011 with baying protocol off with it. I see the protocol in the menu but it shows an astericks beside it and will not attempt to bind. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, cheers and have a good day

The Deviation protocols with a "*" (asterisk) preceding are protocols that you have in software, but the hardware doesn't support. It is possible that you have the hardware but the Hardware.ini boot file is not correctly set up. I think it's worth your time looking at the installation instructions to ensure that the module is correctly installed.
The Bayang protocol requires the installation of a transmitter module, the NRF24L01. In the WIKI we've compiled instructions and parts required. It's relatively simple to do.
Let us know what you find out.

I don't believe this unit has any extra modules installed. When I hook the unit to a pc this is all my hardware file shows ";Only useful for transmitters with an after-market vibration motor

This is the normal, unmodified hardware.ini file. If you actually have a second module (either you'd see a second antenna or you'd have to open it up) you would be able to remove the semicolon from the correct line so that deviation can see the board.
The normal deviated Devo 7e can use DSM/DSMX and Devo protocols. Any other protocols will require the installation of a transmitter module as described in the WIKI (see left menu).

Thank you for the info I'm actually looking into the module now. I've run into another issue though. I didnt change any settings but after hooking it to my pc to get the ini information the device will not turn off. I took the battery out to reset it and the power switch does turn it on but it still will not go off. Is this by chance user error or did i damage something? Im currently letting the devo stay on till the battery dies to see if that resolves the issue.
Edit- The unit does turn on and off with the batteries disconnected and plugged into the wall outlet.

The Devo uses a "soft" power switch, which allows the MCU to save model info before shutting down. So the battery power must be above a certain level to ensure that this happens. Be sure to keep your batteries fully charged. I use NIMH rechargeable batteries and recharge them before they get down to 4.7v together.
Also, sometimes removing the batteries for an hour may relieve weird issues.

Thank you so much for the help! Got my nrf24l01 chip installed and I'm up and whooping. Hopefully around the holiday I can pick up a decent racer and start learning acro.
