UART via Trainer Port

Ok so I am about to work on creating a serial based connection for my own UHF radio link I made, looking at the code it looks like the trainer port indeed has serial port turned on and ready to work, is this infact the case? Also can anyone point me in a direction on how to use the serial port on this chip? Most of my experience is with AVR, thanks!
