help - devo8s + nrf24l01+

Hi,

I m using deviationtx 4.0.1 with many models. I fly with Devo & spektrum RXs.
Now i want to use my FBL80 with my TX. So i ordered a module nrf24l01 for arduino and i connected it to my devo board. Then I changed the tx.ini as specified in the docs. So far, it didn't bind...

Maybe, the wiring went wrong even with lots of re-checking. Actually, i found some weird thing : the TMS pin on which i connected CSN of my module is '1' when the transmission is turned on. I would expect a '0' because its a chip select N.

Did i miss something ?
Did someone made it on a devo8s ?

Please give more details and photo of the "module nrf24l01 for arduino" you purchased, there are many such modules, then we can try to assist.

Actually, i desoldered the pins to insert the wires directly on the PCB.
When i m back home, i ll shoot some pictures of my wiring.

I can't see any errors in the cabling. Did you enable the module in the tx.ini (or hardware.ini if you use an actual nightly build)? Do you see an asterisk "*" in front of the nrf-protocols? If so, enable the module first.

Do you have/copy the protocol folder in your TX ?

I don't have the asterix on the 'hisky' protocol on the model config page.

have you set the nrf module to the correct address in tx.ini?, tms is A13 so you should have

enable-nrf24l01=A13
has_pa-nrf24l01=0

This is only necessary for Devo7e, no for Devo8.

If you have a tool for checking electrical connections (what is the correct word?) you can check if the connection between the wire and the corresponding pin of the nrf chip is there (you can follow the lines on the board easily). But I guess it is not really probable; nothing on the pictures supports this assumption.
Edit: After thinking about that again one thing I could imagine: the connection between upper and lower side of the contact is gone because the pin which connected both sides isn't there anymore. It isn't easy to see on your pictures if you soldered the wires through the board.

Well, I rechecked everything with my ohm-meter. The PCB is solderec on both sides. No issue binding the heli with the other transmitter.
I think i m using a defective NRF24L01...

Finally, i ordered another module which i received 2 months later. I soldered it the same way and it is working, quite surprisingly.

I installed that same module. It binds great, but the range is only about 20 feet when flying my V272. I also get lag and interference and sticking controls even at short range. I was wondering what range you were getting with your module?

Considering I got it off of ebay for about $1 I can't complain too much, but I ordered another one with an external antenna and power amplifier that I intend to install asap.

Hi, I only tried with the FLB80. This is quite the smallest CP heli so far so I can only see it within 10 meters away (30 feet ?). I didn't experienced signal loss yet. This is quite surprising comparing to full range DSMX that fails before 100 meters and close to ground.

So i would expect the amplified one with antena to reach at least 200 meters (650 feet).

I have a very similar issue with any nRF based model. A7105 (Hubsan) working fine.
Others on the forum have told me that's most propably due to bad soldering (I had not the time to check yet).
