Wow......this thread has died, what happened? Is the module a bust or is it working? I would really like to some day have one..

We were unable to get the module working. None of the RF chips function. Well..the A7105 may function, I'm not really sure. Anyhow, SadSack is sending it to me so I can do further debug. Hopefully I can work some magic and getit going, or at least deduce why it doesn't work. We will then spin a 2nd revision of the board to address some of the known faults and try again. It takes a while to get from the UK to the US, so patience is necessary. This is not something I plan to give up on before it is working, but the process will take some time.

I'm a new poster here, but long time lurker. I'd like to offer to help with assembly of the next round of boards if you need it. I'm a little closer to the states, and have a lot of experience assembling prototype boards with packages like this.

Well I'm hoping I've done something silly and that's the fix. And now I've started I would like to carry on. Still Pb has the lead. And anyone who may think PB not been about much trust me he's very busy
I am open to Tips / Advice so shout out.
Have considered putting re-flow oven together but turns out oven I picked up don't use Halogen which is preferred option and no budget to buy new one. Recycle is the route I'd go. Sure if I wait long enough one will turn up.
Maybe not to build one of these's but getting re-flow blower makes replacing Fets on ESC's a breeze and harvesting parts off dirt cheap pro minis cheaper than 1 atmega328 tqfp and you get all parts needed to run it afterwards, Bargain!! And replace a few locked avr's will soon recover your costs.

What's not working? They're not visible on SPI bus or they do not emit/receive RF? Or MCU is dead?

The devices aren't visible on the SPI bus. The crystals for the transceivers don't seem to be starting up. Until I have the board in my hand I can't debug further. the stm32 is working fine.

I have been keeping an eye on this project, while assembling a MultiModv1.3 at work (Shhh....don't tell the boss).
I am thoroughly impressed with the progress you guys have been making with the design, assembly and testing.
I am anxiously awaiting any news on the Universal Module.
Once again, hats off to you all!!

Well, I haven't heard from SadSack for 3 weeks. Hopefully he's just busy/on vacation, and will be back soon.
Since I didn't receive the non-working board in the mail, I was unable to debug any further. I've ordered 3 more boards with the fixes we found, and ordered new components. I am going to try to assemble the boards myself using a stencil and reflow. I have no experience doing so, so it'll probably be a catastrophic mess, but we'll see (I have all the equipment to do a good job, just no experience at it). Unfortunately, the fixes we discovered do not explain why the board SadSack assembled doesn't work, so we are no closer to solving that mystery.
I'll have everything in my hands in a couple weeks, and we'll go from there.

My offer still stands.
Are the gerbers or an OSHpark link available for the new layout? I can order some boards and components and build a couple in parallel with you.

I'm going to give it a go. If it works, it will be much more efficient for me to do myself, and there's no better time to learn that the present.
The boards are here:
oshpark.com/shared_projects/oyIOtWyZ
The Eagle design is here (note it is 4 layer, and probably can't be opened in free Eagle):
PhracturedBlue@bitbucket.org/SadSack/universaltx-4-layer
I haven't created the stencil mask yet. It is likely some of the pads will need to be tweaked for that. I'm going to use OshStencil for the stencils, and it should only take a couple days, so no risk.
The BOM is embedded in the Eagle (use 'run bom-xs' to get it), but here are the order details:

I have an eagle professional license for my work, so opening them is no issue. Thanks for putting the list together, I'll go ahead and get parts ordered. Really looking forward to having a universal module with a single PA and antenna. Thanks for putting the list together, and good luck with your build!

Be aware that we have no indication that this board actually works. i don't know any reason why it wouldn't, but we don't have a working prototype yet.

Of course, but if it doesn't I might be able help figure out why. I've been using Deviation for quite a while now, and if there is any way I can help contribute, I'm happy to do so.
