First, you don't have to use a PA pin. You can use a PB pin, or PC, out etc. Basically any pin on any port can be used. There docs recommend using a PB pin on one of the two transmitters.
Second, is using a simple decoder like that plus one of these modules really that much better than a multimodule build? Same idea, except your using an mcu so you can do the switching via the SPI bus instead so you can control all for modules with the same connections you need for just one module.

Looking at it I'd get 4in1 and remove RF module and re do PB's layout to use new module, maybe even just a 2 layer design!

Not all transmitters have easily accessible pins to use. At least that's my assumption. I've only ever owned a 7e and getting at un-used pins can be a challenge. In the not too distant future I'd like to experiment with new modifications of my own like additional analogue knobs. Keeping the free I/O pins clear can only help later.

I haven't been following the multimodule build. I'm not entirely sure what it will or won't do or provide, or if it's even practical to fit in a 7e. My initial impression is it is that it is something the owners of larger transmitters have bean wanting. But I have modded my 7e to add two additional transmitter modules (many 7e owners have). It gets crowded in that tiny case when you start stuffing additional transmit boards, and then there's antenna issues, wiring, etc, etc. Here we have an opportunity to maybe replace 3 separate boards with a single one, for less cost and far less space inside the case. And it looks like a drop in replacement, excepting the decoder part. In fact, I could even live with using just 2 of the 3 on board RF units in the 3in1, if it replaces two separate boards.
With a the small software tweak and a decoder chip I could expand my 7e protocol list by one more than I had before, with less electronics jammed in the case. For 7e owners that's exciting. I don't think it takes anything away from the multimodule build goals.

I don't see why not. The decoder would need a connection to ground and Vcc, plus the 2 inputs from the transmitter and the 3 outputs to the module. Looking at the 3 in 1 module, the 3 RF selects and a ground are neatly organized on one end. The actual decoder, only requires one chip. If it's an smd IC, the daughter board itself would be barely bigger than the pin space it needs to mount to the 3-in-1.
It wouldn't be hard to design a simple board that connects to all the pin holes on the 3-in-1. I'm imagining a ready to go DIY board ready built with pins ready to solder into the 3-in-1 board and wires attached so all you have to do is is solder it to the 3-in-1 and attach the wires to the usual transmitter pads. Imagining is easy

Hi ruzam,
I contacted with TaoBao seller yesterday and discussed about daughter board , he also think it's a good solution, he will take some time to design that board.
The final goal is 4in1 module I think,take stock cyrf6396 away and install 4in1, single module , single antenna , maybe it need to solder only 1 extra wire for chip/antenna selection ........

I have 8s and 7e but I manage to get a 10 for module test, I don't want to solder wire to MCU ,that will kill my TX I think.

I bought couple of 4-in-1 boards, they're less complete but may be more suitable for making something close to the Universal module.

I am in Taiwan not China! I always contact TaoBao seller via Ali instant message software, all your suggestions I will pass to him, I can't influence design just give him suggestion!
I did't subscribe "Universal module" thread for a while, because I can solder so many SMD component as you can do, but I will try to convince him to produce it.

will report soon , but I have no idea about 4-in-1 now , maybe remove iron cover
and see what's inside the module, any suggestion?

Just finished yesterday the install of an NRF module on my brand new Devo 7e, and perhaps would jump on an 3in 1 / 4 in one as a next step..., and don't get how you'd choose with only 2 "csel" pins (don't see any inverter there...)

B7 pin is available for this, and it can be solder wire by most users.
