Spektrum DX Tx hacking? was created by mwm
The new Spektrum Dx transmitters have user upgradeable firmware, which means they are susceptible to hacking ala the Devo and TH9X transmitters.
Anyone opened one up to see what's in them yet?

yeah even at $110 which is the cheapest I can find it's still twice the cost of a 7e, but in it's defence it does come with 7 switches as stock, (which I think 6 are 3way and 1 2way) and is also a full power tx (though with the 4in1 module now being available that's not much of an issue nowadays)
the main issue I see is that there's only 5 gui input switches, rotory press, rotory left/right, clear and back, I think that's maybe similar to the at9, and look at the issues that caused when the changes were made in the code to try and accommodate that :/

With Spektrum transmitters we can get the same problem as with Taranis X9D -> no SPI bus. Spektrum RF modules managed by serial protocol.

This one is new 6e with upgradeable firmware. Who knows what other changes they implemented? SPI module is cheaper because you can offload protocol implementation to the main MCU, maybe they tried to save money and produced hackable TX

It looks like all Spektrum transmitters with telemetry support have RF module with SPI bus.
Also, they have voice alerts, starting from DX6G3.
