The Devo 12e has a different jack than the Devo 6s/7e/8s/10 and the wiring is not the same. In this connector, which bears the part number "WK2801-JACK2", there isn't a mechanism to short the RX pin to ground.

Both the TX and RX pins are always connected to Tip and Ring respectively with or without the plug inserted. The jack has one additional pin for each of them that is connected when the plug is not inserted. So it is possible to wire the TX line to the DFPlayer on pin 2 so that it is always connected (with the possible effect that whatever is connected by the plug may introduce problems). You could also wire it to pin 5 so that the TX line connects to the DFPlayer only when the jack is not in use.

I checked the FCC photos for the F12E and it looks like it's wired the other way. Is the Devo 12 wired like this one?

Devo12e 4-in-1 with voice mod -- it speaks!!

Thanks FDR for the testing, you really are eager getting it into nightlies ;).
I updated all builds except for devo7e (non-ultimate).

Change-log:
  • I reworked all checks for PPM (including exceptions for devo12 and uart5 on devo7e-256) and device definitions in sound.ini (entry device=voice/buzzer/all), I hope that now all works well and we have buzzer whenever voice is not available.
  • I also noticed that I didn't set up the port before playing welcome messages so in most configurations the commands at startup (play welcome and volume setting) were sent at 115200 baud *LOL*; Probably this will put an end to the startup message issue :P no, it was setup correctly... It is too late for coding... Anyway, try and see if it works better now
  • mpg123.exe is now correctly residing in the root directory of the emulator zip, so voice output in emulators should work out of the box (if a mp3 folder is placed in the same directory as the emulator executable)

The first row ("Only useful...") should have a semicolon too, also check the line endings in notepad++.

Yes, it seems, but you need to switch on showing the hidden characters to be sure.
Use the fifth Pi like buton at the bottom...

I probably messed up somewhere on the latest code change.
To be honest, I didn't test the 12 emulator, only the 8 one...

As far as I have seen the devo 12s has exactly the same jack ppm port as the devo 8s. The board is the same WK-21201-DECT

deviation-devo12-v5.0.0-7fc98ae.dfu dated 26/3 works for me on my devo 12s.
Welcome message delayed by the warning or the binding message.

Switches work well. No goodbye (not important but as it worked in the first builds...;)

@magic marty
The issue is probably that it cannot find voice.ini which leads to deactivation of voice. There still seems to be an issue with your library. If we can agree on a standard voice set I will include voice.ini in the builds' library

For the moment the standard english voice set has 10 custom voices. I suggest for testing purposes of this library to add 10 or 20 other named from sound 211 to end whit a medium time say 1500 to enable users who have more mp3 files to test them .. Furthermore they have the possibility to check the sound by clicking on the box in the voice config page

First test of the ppm + voice on my devo 12s : It works perfectly I tested the trainer mode. I will add 2 Sounds for prof flying and pupil flying...:)

As concerns battery voltage display, the devo 12 has a double display. the second can be seen when pressing the voltage display. One can be under the limit (the hidden one) and it triggers the battery warning. But the warning spells the visible one which can be over the limit. This is very odd.

What do the two voltages mean? Which one needs an alert? Or is it needed on both?

I have a suggestion just make 2 builds, one... the current build as the complicated version where the MK tool is needed and two... another version labeled simple version where we just simply copy the voice.ini on the root for users that the MK tool will not work on there computers...I am not the only one who cannot get the MK tool to work it is temperamental and only works on certain pc's..As long as we have to use the MK tool i will not be able to use the voice builds without having somebody create the library.dfu for me and that is just a unnecessary hassle IMO..
