By the way, I don't know if this is firmware specific but on the 12S USB drive when connected to the PC there is only a \media folder.
If the voice.ini is placed there, everything is fine. I did however create the \mymedia folder in the root of the drive and placed the file there, this did not work.

Both the F12E and the 12S are now talking to me, this helps a lot when I can't take my eyes off the plane/quad/FPV goggles. Time to try some different voice packs

I didn't notice you are using Xms. Glad it works now. Try out Deviation Voicepacker to build your own voice packs.

@moeder: For sure I will try the voicepacker I just have to get into it a litte bit more. Thank you very much for your effort!
@vlad_vy: I have uploaded it to the 12S and the menu seems really, really fast. I only tested it with "normal" operations like change of model and browsing through settings of the TX. There were no signs of "sluggishness". Even the menu: Transmitter menu-->Transmitter config draws very fast (the screen, which I am aware of, with a lot of content). So, well done!
Edit:
Just a remark regarding the voice announcements:
When "power down alert" is set to "ON" in the transmitter config menu there is no "goodbye" or "power down beeps" played (no beeps when audio volume is set to "0" when the transmitter is shut down. Do I miss a configuration or is this a bug?
This happens on both the F12E and 12S, each is the XMS version.
The currently installed firmwares on the transmitters are:
F12E: devof12e-XMS-v5.0.0-f17ed68
12S: devo12-XMS-v5.x.x-2018-05-28

Hope you can help?
Have Devo F12E with Xms file upgraded memory with latest nightly build
Trying to go through trainer port (DSC) is this possible?
Wired DFPlayer tx through tip and grounded outer on a mono female jack
5v step down with 2s lipo
Also put file voice.ini in media file
Is there anything else I need to do as just says in voice.cfg external voice currently not available?
Any help in this would be great

You also need to add the following text in a new line in your hardware.ini (to be found in the root folder of your tx when connected to PC in USB mode):
voice=dfplayer
Insert the line exactly as written above.
Do use notepad++ for changes in hardware.ini, do NOT use windows integrated editor.
Otherwise your hardware setup seems to be correct.
Best regards
Max

Since I'm merely moving quickly thru the medium rates position, id rather not hear it, nor wait for it to finish playing before telling me what i am actually in.
This would be fantastic for every 3 position switch on the radio.
as is, if i flip the rate switch back and forth a few times, as needed with some models to trigger a calibrate or a RTH mode, i can literally be listening to more than a half dozen low rates, medium rates, high rates, medium rates, low rates medium rates, high rates announcement chain for quite some time.
not that the last example occurs often, it just seams like it should function a little differently.
all thoughts and ideas appreciated

This is a suggestion
Some warning message can also be only information. For example the altitude can be considered as an informations.
It would be interesting to have the possibility to trigger this type of information by a switch.
Do you think this would be possible ?
