Deviation Model Files V2 vs V3 was created by nerwin
Just upgraded to Deviation V3, and having some odd behaviour with a few of my models.

I was just going to purge my model.ini files and start again, but I though I should ask what the difference is with v2 and v3 model files, as I see people now posting files for v2 and v3 clearly identified. I searched the forum, but couldnt find anything on what the difference is, or what to expect when using your old model files.

Check your subtrims. Subtrims was not fixed before V3.0.0
See bitbucket.org/PhracturedBlue/deviation/issue/286/subtrim

Devo 10 (+7e) owner. It's mine, please don't touch it with your big fingers

There is also an icon switch issue when going from one version to the other.
This is why I had to make a model for V2 and one for V3 for all the models I posted here. Then I had to make a model for the Devo 8S/12, the Devo 10, and JJ1984 modified my model to work for the Devo 6S.
I didn't make any models for the Devo 7e.
Also there is an issue with the Devo 7e file system.

So for one helicopter model to work with both versions of the firmware and to work on all the transmitters you need to make 8 versions of the model.

Release notes for V3.

I have a config file I'd rather not have to reenter....It works for older versions, but I just upgraded to V3.

Its behavior is: I cannot select the Standard GUI. It is stuck in Advanced.

If I edit the file, and enter Standard, then when I go to the gui, it says something like invalid configuration.

Is there a simple fix to make it fully compatible with V3? Like copy in the subtrims, etc...?

thx.

What you mentioned here was a problem with the emulator, not with the real tx. This is not changed with newer versions...

There might be issues if you only upgrade the firmware (beside the differences in the model config files): Other things in the file system may change without mentioning. The correct way for an update is:
  1. make a copy of your model*.ini-files and the tx.ini (via USB)
  2. update the firmware
  3. update the file system via USB (completely from the delivered zip-file)
  4. copy your model files in the models directory (via USB)
  5. redo your settings in the tx.ini, esp. do recalibrations of sticks and the touchscreen. YOu have the old tx.ini to look at
The points 3 and 5 are important (not in every version's change) because those steps make sure that you have all the files you need in the file system (deviation can not create new files) and you have all settings to configure your transmitter correctly (otherwise deviation may assume unwanted defaults).

thanks, Tom Z. I followed these steps, but the instructions I read said if I overwrite the tx.ini file, you will have to re-initialize the transmitter, so I copied all files/directories over the old file system, except I did not copy tx.ini.

I will try overwriting tx.ini. thanks for the response, Ill let you know what happens.

Tom Z, I redid everything but the firmware update, and it still has the same behavior, but only with my old model files, and with all of them. That makes me think the difference is in the model files.

I spent a little time editing the model files, and here is what I found:

I can take a default model file form build 3, and put it in standard icon mode, and then change from the default heli to airplane, and it goes back to advanced mode and will not change to standard icon mode, which I prefer for now...

Can airplane not be run in standard mode, or is this a bug???

thx Jim.

Or is this still unique to my configuration?

Standard mode is for Heli only.
