Horizon Hobby X-Vert VTOL

I posted this a few days ago in the Model Request section, but was hoping to try and get some insight on setting this up. I am having a great deal of issue in getting this craft setup properly in my Devo 7E (older 4.0.1 Nightly, two 3-way switches). I initially tried to go through the tutorial that MWM has on his blog page. Had little luck.

This craft requires one 3-position switch and one momentary switch. Flight modes are controlled by Channel 5 and motor arming/disarming is controlled by Channel 6.

I had Switch B set up for the 3 flight modes and that all works properly. I can see the LED on the flight control board turn from green (multirotor mode) to red (stability mode) to red/green (acro mode). I had throttle cut set for HOLD switch, but was unable to figure out what I needed to do for the motor arm/disarm momentary switch. I have also been having issues with getting only part of the control to work properly.

At this point, I'm lost and about ready to either take the craft back or see if I can buy a cheap DX6 so I can fly this thing.

Does anyone own one of these and can give me some assistance in getting a proper model INI set up? It's frustrating that my brand new craft is just sitting in the box because I can't figure out how to program my radio.

From reading the X-Vert manual it should be a pretty simple setup:

1.) I advise you not to use the older 4.0.1 build as it probably yet has some DSM2/X issues. Go with a current nightly (it is stable to my knowledge).

2.) Program the model (DSMX, 6 channel):
Channel1: Mixer simple THR 1-to-1, Safety HOLD1, Safe Val -100
Channel2: Mixer simple AIL 1-to-1
Channel3: Mixer simple ELE 1-to-1
Channel4: Mixer simple RUD 1-to-1
Channel5: SWB like you did, as it seems to work (flight modes).
Channel6: Mixer simple FMODE1 1-to-1

You can add Expo&DR to channels 2-3 later on when everything is working.

To arm the X-Vert you need to have your throttle stick at minimum and then flick FMODE down and up again to arm (it should start spinning motors at idle speed if you are in Multirotor mode).

I had the same problem with my Devo 8S.
I had started from a model that I use for all SAFE receivers and the X-Vert changed modes. I even got it to arm but when I tried to take off the X-Vert jumped a meter o so and suddenly stopped falling down.

At the end all I had to do was reverse channel 6 (the one that arms).

I attach the file for X-VERT with Devo 8s.

FMOD switch changes between all the flying modes:
0-Multirotor (Green led)
1-Stable (Red led)
2 acro (Green and red leds)

Switch GEAR to 1 for a second or so and take it back to 0: the motors ARM DANGER the motors spin even at 0 throttle it is supposed to do that.
Once armed when you give throttle, at 50% aprox. the X-Vert gets in the air and you can control it like a multirotor. Know that the cockpit is the back and the belly is the front.
Rudd D/R to 1 is motor hold but only works when the throttle is at zero. Maybe someone can figure why.

Hello, I have a problem with throttle cut.

I changed the throttle channel:
.And RUD DR1 cuts the throttle but not entirely.
When the motors are armed the X-Vert starts with an "idle" throttle and that is what remains when I cut throttle.

I have tried to make RUD DR1 replace GEAR 1 which is the switch that arms and disarms but I don't think I am doing it OK.

What does X-vert do when you do not get a Tx signal?
Fall down? Fly away? Will you land as a multicopter?

Hold 1= Motor cut off, Hold 0= Motor cut on, Countdown Timer and Stop Timer on,
TRN 1 switch Motor on ,
F-Mode 0= Multirotor Mode
F-Mode1= Stabillity Mode, Forward Flight
F-Mode2= Acro Mode, Forward Flight
Channel 1-4: +- 100% Expo: 0%

Hi, I'm new to this site. I was looking for an INI file for the x-vert that will work with the DEVO 10.
I tried some of the suggestions that have been discribed, but not working.
