Toggle Icons

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this or not so forgive me this is my first post!

I am wanting to ADD some icons to be used for toggle switches etc. I tried to add a toggle4.bmp file but that didnt work and neither did editing toggle3.bmp. I know model icons are supposed to be a certain format etc. but no mention of the other icons used on the Devo 7e. I saw some post about toggle icon nightly but didnt say if it added icons etc. I just want something simple like some letters and maybe a spiral or something.

Here is my problem.. I have tried using gimp 2.8 and also 2.6 and on both versions the "+advanced options" is greyed out so I cannot select it!!! I am having no trouble actually making the icons I want, but it seems impossible for me to save them in a format that the Devo 7e can use. When I try to use them on the TX they show up as blank images that can actually be selected.... Not sure what to do...

I think "File", "Export As...", then pick a name and destination for the file, select Windows BMP from the lower right corner drop-down list for type, then click the Export button. ...then the window for compatability options and advanced options will appear.

If you click save, it will want to save it as a .xcf file

I have done that! many times..... the advanced option is never enabled.....

I'm running GIMP v2.8.14 on Windows 8.1, ....works fine for me.

I am glad for you. Any ideas on why it won't work for me on Windows 7? I might add it's 64 bit.

No idea why it doesn't work for you. Where did you download the GIMP program from? Here is their official download page. >>> GIMP <<< Perhaps if you got it through a bit-torrent, your install is corrupt somehow. I would try the .exe download instead of the bit-torrent one.

Un-install and re-install a fresh download, may be the solution?

Edit:
Would also install the program from the .exe saved to your hard drive, ...instead of selecting "run" while on the download page, and make sure any other programs are not running during the install.

I appreciate all the help... Get this.... ALL of a sudden today the ADVANCED option was now available!!! I still had to also try EVERY type to find one that worked...

It ended up that I had to save it as "R5 G6 B5" and now it works!!! YAAAAA

I have made alphabet toggle icons in toggle1.bmp.
works OK on my Devo 7e with Deviation 5.0
