DSMX Binding Fails with Align 3GX & sat RXs

Hi All

Have anyone managed to bind Deviation 4.0.1 with a Align 3GX V4.0 with one or two DSMX satellite receivers?

DSM2/7ch works but when pressing the 3GX button to force DSMX binding the bind led goes out never to come back. Tried all numbers of channels, etc, with no luck. Binding the 3GX with a DX5e works 100% every time, but does not help me as I need minimum 6 channels to fly the heli.

I also tried the V4.01 Nighties, no difference.

This to me indicates we still have a DSMX binding issue with Devo 4.0.1.

3 months ago you wrote that dsmx with 3GX 4.0 working with dsmx and deviation.But only with 8 channels.

I know, that was on the bench and with a specific ID as we discussed at the time, now I am trying to replicate and use a 3GX in DSMX mode on an Align 250 DFC, but cannot get it to work on DSMX no matter what I do.

I have not tried with 3GX v4.0, but with v5.0 this solution works!
I replaced the DSM2 sats to DSMX on a working config.

Followed the binding procedure for DSMX, got solid orange lights on both sats but the 3GX was not starting up.

Changed the channels from 7 to 8 and simply started to work...
(Deviation 4.0.1)

I had same issue with microbeast and spektrum brand DSMX sat and it took me a few days and new DSMX adapter wire before I finally figured out that I had accidentally changed my tx model to 7 channels -- DSMX just doesn't work at 7 channels, really odd behavior where moving pitch stick the heli would respond only about every 500ms, at the exact same speed as the light blinking on the DSMX sat. Changed to 8 channels and it magically worked great again. Maybe the UI shouldn't allow DSMX to be selected with 7 channels. No idea if other number of channels work but 7 definitely doesn't with DSMX sat as sole rx.

Vlad, not sure if I understand your reply correctly. Yes, the UI allows setting number of channels and protocol separately (it is infinitely flexible), but if there is a known invalid combination (and I don't know if DSMX 7-channel is always invalid or just with spektrum satellite) then it would be easy to prevent in the UI and would have saved me hours of troubleshooting and purchasing a part that wasn't broken. And apparently I'm not the only one who has hit this speed bump.
