New FrSkyX protocol was created by planger
Hi,
I just wanted to inform you that Midelic and I have released the FrSkyX protocol.
It's available on our github: github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module
It should be straight forward to port it to deviation.
The telemetry is currently limited to A1, A2 and RX RSSI but further dev are ongoing.

FrSkyX is used by the following FrSky receivers X4R, X6R and X8R.
It's a 16 channels protocol with telemetry.

Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.

Yes, this is the "D16" protocol.

Ok, great!
Would it than make sense to rename the Protocol in the TX to FrSky D8, like the FrSky V8. So in future we have the FrSky D16.
Or a in the Submenu link telemetry On|Off you can select D8|D16.
As far as I get my cc2500 working I can do some testing if there is any nightlies available. I have a X6R right here...

Brilliant, just last night I was trying to bind my devo 10 to my X4Rsbus only to find the lack of D16 support. Great to see the community getting on top of this. Any ideas how long before a nightly is available with this incorporated? I wish I had the skills to do it myself!
Oh and a thanks to SeBy for your multimodule tutorial I wouldn't be here without it

Hello Pascal,
great to hear!
Thank you very much to you both.
6CH Spektrum RX with the additional TM1000/TM1100 telemetry modules are not the optimal solution because that adds to higher total prices and space problems on some planes/helis.
Also it is nice to have lower-cost or small RX support with digital bus protocols (S-Bus).
Finally I might be able to push telemetry to my V120D02s with ZYX-s FBL
Thanks again.

I tested it with X4RSB,
I has RSSI , RXbat and A2(Analog in pin) telemetry.for the moment.
It is easy to be implemented in Deviation.

Frsky is proven to be good for full size and long range.....;
Telemetry is also full range, with spectrum/orange rx only few hundreds of meters.
Sbus Cppm receivers, very compact rx available.
I hope also some day the Flysky AFHDS 2A telemetry 14channel protocol, will be added as it is also cheap and good option for Rx for DIY builds.

I like the idea of renaming the current FrSky to FrSky-D8 if we add this as D16. Or maybe FrSky-D (D-series receivers), FrySky-X (X series receivers) to go along with FrSky-V8 (V8-series receivers).
I'll suggest that when I review the pull request for D16 (I hope it gets done before I can take a look at it
if the author doesn't.
It's not such a good fit for protocol options, as you can't bind if it's set wrong, which generally isn't the case. Look at DSM2/DSMX, for instance - two different protocols, even though all the DSMX hardware will bind if you select DSM2.

There are toy protocols, which have such protocol options needed to set before binding in order to bind successfully, so it would not be the first.
Wouldn't renaming the protocol break the existing model.ini files?

We've renamed the FrSky protocols once already. How did that get handled?

Nice work midelic and Pascal
I've started porting this, but not a lot of free time and no cc2500 experience so others may be faster...

The protocol_combo test build now has a first pass at FrskyX. Telemetry is not yet implemented - one step at a time. It's not very similar to the other Frsky protocols so didn't make sense to try to make it a protocol option. Code is in my repo - bug fixes welcome
.
I don't have a way to test this. Please check if it binds. If it binds please check if the channel scaling is reasonable.

Hi Hexfet that is great news! So now can buy some new x series receivers and use also with s-bus. Excellent!!!
Now you are working on this Frsky could you please have a look at the fucntion to set failsave from the Tx.
On my Frsky DHT it can do that, so no need to open up the model and use a pencil etc, just set all sticks switches in position and push button, store failsave from TX.

Please, i apologize for my 1) low level in english langage ; 2) my very low level in understanding all about FrSky and déviation, and upgrading to.
I upgrade 2 years ago my Devention with the deviation 4.0.1 (jan 7 2014). I remain very happy to have used Spektrum DSM2 instead of devention.
I have had no problem to use, two years ago, "DFUSE USB a.s.o" to upgrade my Devo 12S with deviation 4.0.1.
As it seems to happen with many users of deviation, it become impossible to find a laptop who accepts / perfoms the connection between a devo 12s and the DFuse a.s.o.
Walkera can't be linked and "devention field" seems to be on sale.
I am very near to solder a CC2500 on my devo 12s. To upgrade the Tx with FrSky..
So please : i find here : www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t...581&highlight=cc2500 , a tutorial to solder a CC2500 on my devo 12s. The thing i need to do after that is to uncomment two or three lines on the 4.0.1 deviation.
But it seems i have to use a new one (feb 2016). True or not ?
So i need to connect myTx and a Dfuse USB Upgrader.
The traditionnal procédure is out of works.
Maybe a winning idea.
Something like no need to connect Tx and PC avoiding so the Caudine Forks of all the Walkera and Devention surrounding
Thanks for reading.
Regards.
