german translation of the UserManual

Hi,are there any volunteers in creating a german translation of the DeviationUserManual.
I suggest we start with the Devo10/7e Manual, as has been done with the english version before.

What I've done so far:
I've split the Deviation10UserManual into individual files for each chapter,
so different people could contribute their work on a single chapter.
I've translated chapter 1-6 but there are probably still many typos.

I would leave the english pictures and translate only the text, putting the items from the menu in brackets.
i.e. QR (AIL).. HR (ELE) .. Kanal (Channel) ...
Devo7e is only english anyway.

"lang-ger.fods" is a spredsheet of english-german translation derived from Deviation firmware translation file and could serve as reference for the correct naming of the menus.

Have not had a look into the single chapters. But I assume you are using the latest English version.
Two questions:
1. How to distribute the work in order to avoid double work on the same chapter. E.g. a list or a posting?
2. We did some cross references in the English version. How does this work with a parted manual?

In any case I prefer the parted version. Just thinking back how PB, WheresWaldo and I worked on one single file

Every file I am working on right now has a hint at the beginnig
"Bearbeiter: linux-user"

I think we should keep track in this thread who is working on what.

I think that even german-only speaking people cold help. i.e
- correcting mistakes,
once translation is done:
- paste the splitted files together
- fine tune the formating at the end

While translating I think I've found a (little) mistake in the original english version.
Given I am right and there is an a error in the english version I have 3 options.

1. Translating it with the error (following strictly to the letter)
2. Correct the error in the translated version
3. Try to correct the mistake in the original english version and the translation.

I would prefere Option 3 as I don't like the translation differing from the original in any way.

OK. this is the mistake I am talking about (and there might be a second one):
in Chapter "3 Reporting Bugs" of Deviation10UserManual:
"Please provide as much information as possible in your ticket. Include:"This is not true for Devo10/7e and
I would like to replace this with:
What should I do?
I could change the english version in my repository and make a pull request.
Is it possible to create a pullrequest on a single file?

Just file a ticket on the deviation repo and PB will correct it on next opportunity.

Current status of the Deviation10UserManual_de

- raw translation is done, but probably still many bugs.
I called it "beta 1"

- layout is in some places not so pretty as the english.
there are some pages with only a few sentences on them.

- Papersize is still letter.
A first attempt changing it to A4 srcambled some of the formating.
So I left it in letter right now.
To my experience, letter-formated Documents can be printed on A4-Paper

- I think we could create a PDF and offer it for proof reading on RCLine.de
However I am uncertain how the feedback (if any ) could be managed.

Maybe we should encourage people to add corrections in LibreOffice.
So, what would be the best format to offer? .fodt? .odt?

Paper size now A4 with complete reformatting (otherwise have have to scale to a smaller size [have do to it nearly every day ).
Sorry I needed some time to get through this massive chapter 8.

Let the people do whatever they want. Comments in PDF could also be copied to the orgin document as text files or PM.
If you install LibreOffice with Standard options you cannot open the fodt files (you need a full install). Therefore odt could be an option for proof reading to decrease the file size.

Update:
Deviation10UserManual_de is now beta3.04
For me it is good enough for release now.

Deviation8UserManual_de is beta1.02 now.
Needs to check the names of the translated menus.
After that, I would consider it as finshed as well.

we now have a german translation that is good enough to be considered final. Basically I called beta3.05 resp. beta1.03 "final". Just removed some of the comments.

I've created a pull request on bitbucket, so hopefully this will be added to the official documents.
