Trainer port Dead Man's switch (ext throtle cut)?

has anyone used their trainer port to make an external throttle cut/dead man switch for their radio? my idea is to make an arduino PPM into the radio wired to either a foot pedal or wrist tether so that if I step away from where I am or drop the radio I get a throttle cut triggered.

I've been caught up in the panic of a downed copter more than once and tweaked the throttle when I got over to and tried to pick up my quad. this hasn't hurt me on a micro quad, but as I consider a full size or drone, I want to build in some more safeties to compensate for my easily flustered personality.

You can install a headphone jack and solder it in parallel to the th switch. Then prepare a headphone plug: solder all contacts together, connect a ribbon to it and put it around your neck.
When you put the tx down, keep the plug around your neck (means: pull it off the jack) and you're done. Plug it in before you fly again.

But I recommend to get used to the th switch. I needed some days to get familiar with it but now I don't have to think about it anymore. I flip it just before my heli/quad goes down to prevent damage due to rotating blades/propellers. I also use a neckstrap for my transmitter so I don't have to put it in the grass to have my hands free. And mostly when I walk to my heli I have one finger on the tx making sure that throttle can not accidentally be moved...
