Flysky protocol was created by Keith5031
Hello All, I am wondering if you have to do the A7105 Transciever HW mod in order for the Tx to use the Flysky protocol or just the Deviation FW upgrade?

Yes you need to install a compatible module.

Thanks for your reply. My next question is- If I install the module and the FW upgrade, will the TX be able to use the original Walkera recievers as well as Flysky recievers or is it only Flysky protocol now?

Very Cool, do you need a switch or something to go back and fourth between the different protocols? How do you switch between them?

The selected model determines the protocol, which determines which module to use...

Awesome, so the module I need-Do I need one with an external antenna or are the ones with the small wire attached good enough? Also want to add that I purchased a Devo 8s, haven't used it yet but I soon will. I have a modded Flysky 9x and a Turnigy 9XR from HobbyKing.

For small models you can use an internal antenna, but it is important to have a power amplifier on the rf board.
For large scale the external antenna is better of course...

What is the power amplifier, where to get one, how to install it and do you need it on an external antenna? I am sorry for all the questions, are the answers in the manuals or else where on the this site? I appreciate all the help. :)

The power amplifier is included on some boards, but not all of them.

This forum is what I meant, I wasn't real clear on that. I will be coming back here with more questions I know. I can see and read about this stuff, but you guys seem to make it more comprehensible which gives me courage to try. Thanks!

Will this module do what I want 1pcs 2.4G NRF24L01+ Wireless Transceiver Module + SMA Antenna or is it this one A7105-500m wireless transceiver Antenna / nRF24L01 + / CC2500/SI4432/CC2530? I ordered both cause I wasn't real sure. Thanks in advance :)

Keith, there are 4 main RF chips used in majority of 2.4GHz RC models. They are CYRF6936 (installed in Devo), A7105, CC2500, and nRF24L01+. They are all incompatible with each other, so the ideal setup holds them all. Flysky uses A7105, so you need to look for this. EBay sellers frequently label their module with all possible names to enhance visibility, but the first one is most probably the right one. So you need A7105-500m, nRF24L01_ is used for a different set of protocols (you can get it as well if you have Hisky, V202, Tactic SLT, or Esky model).

Wow, so I can use them both. :woohoo: I have some Tactic recievers, but I also have the Anylink. It is currently on my 9XR, which has the DSM2/DSMX module. Do I connect the other module in series with the A7105, can you install more than one module inside the Devo 8S? I mean with the ability to store 255 models, I can fly all my planes and copters with this Tx. B)

There is a manual, explaining the mod procedure. Basically, SPI protocol all these modules use has 3 common lines - MISO, MOSI, CLK - which are connected as a bus, and one individual CSN (or SS, or somehow else) - Chip Select. You connect these lines in parallel, and "borrow" two extra CSNs from the JTAG lines, which are broken out on all Devos. You also modify tx.ini on your Devo accordingly to let the code know that you have this mod done. Each protocol knows which RF chip to use and you don't need any extra switches - just assign correct protocol to your model.

Check the manual for more detailed info with pictures:
