Devo protocol 11ms mode?

Devo protocol 11ms mode? was created by Hexperience
The rx802 (and others) support 11ms mode to the servos. Does deviation support this mode and are there any benefits or drawbacks to using it?

I'm looking into using 11ms mode for a flybarless controller. I don't know if it will do anything or not...

cheers

AFAIK the 11/22ms is an rx only feature, it defines the timing against the servos.
The tx sends out the packages much often...

Thanks FDR, so I guess my next question is what is the frame rate of the devo protocol? How often does the TX send the packets to the RX?

Not that my thumbs are faster than 22ms... :)

DEVO protocol sends 4 channel packets every 2.4ms, which means a new 8 channels data in every 4.8ms.

The 11ms rx timing is good for the fast digital servos and for FBL or multirotor controllers...

Awesome! I'll try it with the mini vbar clone I have and see if there is any difference.

I thought deviation does not support 11ms mode?

I read somewhere that DSM2/dsmx 11ms isn't supported, is that still the case? If so, any plans to change?

What about devo 11ms?

Thanks.

For Devo - you only need switch Rx to 11ms mode.

For DSM2/DSMX - at any case you need to have High Speed Rx for 11ms. Right now 11ms mode is not supported.

Ok thanks. Will 11ms for dsmx be supported soon?

Hi all,

I have quite a few Spektrum rx's to use with a Devo 12S I've ordered. So I'll ask the same question as gmcquet, will Deviation support the 11ms DSMX protocol sometime in the future?

Thanks...!

11 or 22ms has nothing to do with Deviation. Its only a feature that regards the rx to servos. If the rx in question has 11ms mode use it with fast digital servos.

As stated earlier in the tread the tx transmits much faster.

It's not quite right. DSMX protocol 11ms only applies to servo ports AILE, ELEV, and AUX1 in early radios (thru DX8) and adds RUDD in DX10t and above. The other channels are transmitted at 22ms refresh rates.

And it require 'High Speed' receiver.

Old topic I know, but I'm still not clear.

From what I understand of this thread. The ONLY way to get 11ms mode today is to use a devo RX802 in 11ms mode connected to a beastX FBL.

Using an AR7200BX in dsmx mode will not be able to use 11ms mode.

Correct?

i don't think deviation has any 11ms dsmx capability bud, no matter what rx is used

Yeah, I wonder though, is it just a matter of how deviation binds during the dsmx handshake?

If devo protocol is updating all 8 channels in 4.8ms, plus some error checking? Telemetry?... I assume all that could be happening in less than 11ms.

I've been reading too much, and not really getting a lot of good information about latency. ?? I'm getting myself more confused than when I started. :)
