Wk 2601 protocol - RX2701 rx - Lost a copter today was created by billmester
Hi,
without any warning, the copter turned to full speed right after power on / bind. All buttons/switches were neutral. Did not do that on the bench... tested it like 100 times before flight...
It is a total loss.
I'll add some details later on...
Devo 10, Wk2601 / 6+1 protocol, rx 2701 receiver.

Well, if not total loss, but close. Trex 450 Sport clone with Align parts.
Lost the blades, all 3 cyclic servos (luckily the Align DS425M on the tail survived) the flybar, paddles, helical main gear, main axle, feathering shaft, tail blades broken, tail spinner bent, tail blade holder and basically all bearings are full of sand... have not checked all head parts (full metal) yet...
Full throttle, max head speed right after power+bind in an instant, no control whatsoever. I have sticky TH, which was active (guarding). Swithcing it on-off did not stop the motor... The heli made a proper DCD (dead chicken dance), which I saw only with nitro helis, not electric...
I had to step on it with my boots and pull the battery.
It was fully out of control. The strange is that I have been testing it and setting it up on a bench since a week now - all was fine...
AND to be sure, I was testing it with the motor online (pinion removed
)
So I could have heard if it would spool up... but it was fine...
I do not understand
I have read that the 6+1 2601 protocol is "experimental"... could this be a reason?
Anyway, I do not trust this rx any more. If somebody needs it for further protocol development, PM me with an address... I can share the .ini too if it will help...
regards, bm

2601 protocol was never a very reliable one even on the micros from walkera.
I'm glad you have nothing, it could have been worse than broken material.
Btw are you using the latest deviation's revision ?

The RX was salvaged from a Walkera 60B, a fantastic machine... I have learned to hover with that and spent lots of flight hours... and shoved it into the trees due to a pilot (orientation) error
Had zero issues with the remote in the original machine.

Interesting that the ESC did not protect the heli, which it should do if the TX bind with throttle high.

Can it be the ESC? I'll test it... it came from the 60B like the rx.
It has suuuper soft spool up, gave me some time to flee...
Strange. The Devo10 was showing no output on the throttle channel. (-110%)
Also the failsafe is programmed to -109%...
It started immediately after bind. Can this mean anything?
I have attached the ini. It has a flymentor on it. The fm is not connected to the THR, so we can exclude it from the guilty list

Devo 10 (+7e) owner. It's mine, please don't touch it with your big fingers

You're right RandMental, looks like the ESC is faulty not the RX (or may be both) ?

I'll set it up on a bench tomorrow. Batt, esc, rx, motor and will bind it like 100 times. We'll see...

Hi - it seems there is really a bug of some sort somewhere.
I just had some time today for the bench test. I have tested it with the original Walkera ESC and a different (Align) one. Same result.
This is what happens:
If the Tx-Rx are bound, no issues.
If not, then the Rx blinks, requiring binding, I press "re-init" on the Tx. It binds in ~1-2 seconds, light turns solid. Countdown continues to 0, and then IMMEDIATELY full motor speed.
Regardless of any Tx settings.
I have made several re-runs, always the same result.
If you need it, I'll youtube it.
Cheers,
bm

can you file a ticket on bitbucket? please include your model.ini. That sounds like something I should be able to reproduce.

Dear PB,
on second thought, please don't bother. I don't trust this Rx any more, I am not endangering myself and wasting money again... I had no issues with other Rx's I have (DEVO 1002, Spektrum 6115e DSMX, 3GX+2xDSM2 sats), so I will just use an other one. I don't want to waste my time on this, just makes me angry... and think about the lost copter
If you are interested, I can mail you the Rx and share the .ini.
