Hi there,

I've have Devo 8 and your Devo 8s uses the same firmware but..... If you have a newer 8s there are problems.

Hopefully someone in the know will chime in. I just wanted you to check 1st before you start and can't use your radio.

You'll love the new software, I just don't want you to have a 'bad' experience...

Later... ;)

thanks for the quick reply. just I have been trying to get it to work with some of the earlier versions in the past and no luck. so I have been away for a little with hopes they have fixed and or made it work with this model. also want to be sure I can go back to original firmware if needed.

The issue I know of was only with v3 firmware that with the newer Devo 8S you couldn't go back to the stock firmware.

There is no longer an issue with going back to stock firmware with v4 firmware.
I think they updated the firmware for the newer Devo 8S LCD drivers which was the issue with the v3 firmware.

V4 is the most stable version to date and there has been no reboot in flight reports. I have been testing it a lot making my models for this site with quads and helicopters with no problems at all.

Looks like your set. Ver. 4 fixes the Devo 8s problems... ;)

Mine works like a champ. I don't use telemetry so I'm good with the Devo 8.

Heck, I'm still using my 7e 95% of the time.... ;)

Ordered a Devo 12s for my Dad, sold his Spektum DX8 to get it....

Good Luck...

I was wondering if there is two files to down load to put into the devo8s or is it just one file. asking because I seen some clips where with versions 3 and back there is two set of files, and then with version 4 and up there is also two different files to down
oad but only seen where one of the zip files is use. Please let me know if i seen the wrong clip.

PB has changed the building since V4.0.0
So there is only one Zip file for the current release of Deviation V4.0.1
Only the development version "Nightly" still consists of two files.
(firmware + file system)

The Manual has also been updated with V4, and the upgrade procedure is described there and up to date.

diverich wrote: then what is the emu file for?

this is the emulator.
Unzip it and run the .exe file on an MS-Windows PC.

There you can test Deviation without touching your transmitter.
As it behaves exactly like the real thing, you can use it to configure your models and test your configuration before you try it with a real model.

The Emulator is described in chapter 11 B)

Don't mix up "emulator" and "simulator". The emulator gives you a window on your desktop which looks like the screen of your transmitter (with some debugging outputs at the right). You can control it with the keys (I think it's described in chapter 11 of the manual).
A simulator needs a transmitter connected to the pc since the stick and switch values are taken from the tx. You will need a simulator cable for your tx (and select PPM out as protocol) or simply a USB cable (the same used for flashing deviation) and the USB HID protocol.

I have a simnlator that when I stat it and have my radio attached to pc it is saying that I need to attach my radio to computer. it worked fine till I put in the deviation firmware. so by selecting the ppm should allow it to correspond with my simulator?
