To help you, we would need more details of the incident.
- What was the last thing you did, before you lost the configs?
- did you edit the files with your TX, or with an editor on your PC?
etc.
You know, that the files must be named in consecutive order?
model1.ini
model2.ini
model3.ini
...

The first thing I am doing, when forced to work on a MS-Windows-PC, is uncheck the "hide known extentions" option in explorervlad_vy wrote: Probably they can have .txt extension (model1.ini.txt)

That is why when I look at general directories on Windows I always use Details instead of any of the other file list options, I can then see the type without seeing the actual extension. Windows will list the type as "Configuration settings".

Started loading a new model, the model showed up on the pc on the drive I named 8s.
The only place it would save the file to is after file 30.
I ejected the drive, turned on the radio and it did not show the file in the menu.
The previous files (models) I have loaded and re named show up in the front of file 1.
Through frustration I tried to replace file 9.
It is gone from the drive when connected to a pc but only that file, 10 and all the rest of the files are shown on the drive.
The radio only shows up to 8.

Not in front of file 1.
Here is whats on the radio screen now in the models menu under Cancel-Load to the left of the heli image.
1:MasterCP
2:SuperCP
3:Nano CP X
4:LadyBird
5:SuperCP2
6:MasterCP2
7:Model7
8:Model8
Screen is blank after that.

you could name the file "model31.ini" and it should be ok.glpdrum wrote: Ok where to start??

Did Windows say "it is save to remove the hardware"? It should say something like that!I ejected the drive,
renamed to what? "model1.ini"?The previous files (models) I have loaded and re named show up in the front of file 1.
This should be OK, You can replace any unused "modelxx.ini"Through frustration I tried to replace file 9.
This is what I suspected. "model9.ini" is missing! It is gone from the drive when connected to a pc but only that file, 10 and all the rest of the files are shown on the drive.
The radio only shows up to 8.
Copy a model-file and rename it "model9.ini"
Then all the rest of your models shoud show up again on your TX

Simply add "model9.ini" and all should be fine.

it is very difficult to guess what you are trying to do.
Please read the following.
deviationtx.com/forum/how-to/1112-how-to...tion-firmware-models
deviationtx.com/forum/how-to/1094-how-to...o-deviation-firmware
And of course:
deviationtx.com/user-manual/Documentation/
Follow the instructions step by step. Be patient and don't hurry.
After each step compare your result with the documentation.
If you get into troubles, try to tell us step by step what you have done.
Please be as specific as possible.
Without knowing in what state your TX is, I would suggest to do a fresh installation of deviation, starting with a new download from deviationtx.com

glpdrum wrote: Models file was corrupted.
How did you determine that?
Files are padded to 4k so what looks like corruption are actually zeros.
Also, afaik model file numbering must not be skipping any position. So if you have model1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 that's bad cause you're missing 9, so 10 and after won't be visible.

I put 9 back, looked at all the files in the drive on the pc, safely removed the drive and It still showed only up to 8. Tried one more time making no changes to any files/models, safely removed the drive and the radio shows 1 model now. If I take a new unused models folder they all show up on both pc and radio. If I try to add a model (from a new source i.e. just downloaded) it will not load. If I try and paste a model into a model # it will drop between them, not take their place.

Sorry I did not see your post before I responded to ststnp. Your suggestion of restoring the radio and reinstalling is what I've been setting up now. I have removed my old DfuSe tool and installed a new one. I have removed my deviation-devo8-v4.0.1 and downloaded a new one. I trying to think of anything else I can try before I take this step.

Could you give a screenshot of your directory listing and maybe one or two if the ini files, typically model9.ini

Ahh, that was helpful.
Now I think I know what you are doing wrong.
Watch the picture from stevecox!
Your models should be named exactly like in the picture.
You can click with the right mouse-botton on a model and rename it to match the naming.
And it may be helpful to display the file extensions

I hope it is not necessary to format the drive.
1.) When you copy the models folder from your fresh deviation download to your TX, then everything is as expected. right?
When you switch your TX to normal operation you see:
1: Model1
2: Model2
...
9: Model9
10: Model10
2.) now you can pick one of TomZ's models and rename it i.e. "model9.ini"
Do this on your PC, not on the TX. (best before connecting TX to PC) OK?
3.) copy this "model9.ini" to your TX.
now from the view of the PC your models folder should look the same as before (like the picture above from stevecox). right?
4.) you switch your TX to normal operation.
now you should see the new model in your Devo8s
something like
1: Model1
2: Model2
...
9:MasterCP2
10: Model10
