I'm not so sure if this has been asked before, so sorry if it is a double question.

I want to use PPM output on my Devo12S with Deviation. But I noticed when I choose the number of channels, it stops at 10. Can't I use 12 channels?

Not, with standard PPM frame length it's impossible. Ten channels is the maximum.

I've seen Tx's going up to 16 channels. How they do that?

Probably they use non-standard pulse width or frame length.

(2.0ms * 16) + 4.0ms = 36ms or non-standard PPM

The reason I asked is because I have an EzUHF for long range, and it is very flexible in accepting anything, even non-standard. I just received a Taranis, and within 5 minutes, using open TX, I had 12 channels working.

an example: fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?27271-PPM-frame-rate

I do agree it may be a non standard protocol, but as far as I am concerned, I don't care, as long as it works.

I guess it should be very easy to implement something "non-standard" in deviation as long as the user is aware it is "non-standard". So when you choose 12 or more channels, a simple warning that the protocol is no longer "standard" would do.

Is it possible to implement something like that?

I like my Devo12S, I like Deviation and I would like to see more and more features. I need more than 10 channels (that's why I bought the Devo12S in the first place) and maybe others are in the same position.

Yes Taranis allows more than 10 channels on PPM. Deviation does too now :)
The max # of channels calculation is:
(PW-notch) / (center + delta + notch)

so default is 11.
increasing the PW will allow you to have more channels.
Note that you are limited to the maximum # of channels supported by the radio (currently 12 for all radios)

Should have said:

The max # of channels calculation is:
(Framesize-notch) / (center + delta + notch)

click on PPM and change the 'Frame Size' to 25000. That should allow you to fit 12 channels

My PPM frame size only goes up to 22500.

Do I need to update to the current nightly?
