PC based USB transmitter (for robots)

Has anyone put together something that would allow a PC/MAC to emulate a deVention or DSM2/DSMX transmitter using a Cypress transmitter chip connected by USB?

The application is to control a quadcopter, car or robot that uses standard RC hardware from a PC.

Doesn't have to be fancy, as long as we can send control stick positions at a decent rate.
