Can't get syma x5c to bind after installing NRF24L01

So I just finished installing the nrf24l01 module into my devo8s. it's the second internal module I've added to my 8s, I previously installed the a7105 module with no issues. I'm confident the wiring is all solid on the second module because I can fly my 922 using the hi-sky protocol and nrf24l module with no issues. However when I try to bind my syma x5c using the symaX protocol I can not get it to bind. Here's what happens: I turn on the quad and it blinks rapidly, then when I power on my tx the lights Change to blinking slowly, which tells me there has to be some communication bc if I don't turn on the tx the lights just continue rapidly blinking.
The model I am using I saved from the forum and was told by a buddy that it works for him. However he is using a Devo 7e, so maybe it's not setup for my 8s. I'm away from my computer at the moment or else I'd load the file, but I can tell you my channels are like this:
Ch1-ail
Ch2-ele
Ch3-thro
Ch4- rud
Any suggestions or clues as to what's going wrong?

If it's an x5c (not x5c-1) the x5c protocol option needs to be on. Click on the protocol name to access the options.

Does the X5C have a wood grain texture on the body? If so, it is one of the old ones, and I think you need to do as hexfet suggested with protocol option "SymaX5C=on" in the model(x).ini file.

If it is a newer X5C-1 the protocol option should be "SymaX5C=off".

I went to the model.ini file but I saw nothing pertaining to "syma x5c" option. I tried clicking on "protocol" using my tx and i couldn't figure out how to access the options. I even scrolled the different protocol settings to see if I missed something but the only thing that mentioned syma was the "syma x" do I need to update my nb or am I missing something?
Thank you guys! :)

The start of your model .ini should look something like this:

name=Syma-X5C
mixermode=Advanced
icon=Syma-X5C.BMP
[radio]
protocol=SymaX
num_channels=8
fixed_id=147852
tx_power=100mW

[protocol_opts]
SymaX5C=Off

[channel1]
template=complex
[mixer]
src=AIL
dest=Ch1
scalar=40
curvetype=expo
points=-10,-10
[mixer]
src=AIL
dest=Ch1
switch=FMODE1
etc.,
etc.
and on down the line.

EDIT: You are running a recent Nightly Build of Deviation on your DEVO, ...right?

yes I am running the nb firmware. I went to my .ini file and added the
[protocol_opts]
SymaX5c=off
And even tried it with the x5c=on
But no luck. :(
I am running this on a devo 8s and I believe the model file I used came from a gentleman with a devo7e.. that shouldn't matter right?
Because right now I'm on the verge of digging my old 7e outta the closet and throwing the nrf module in it to try and make this syma x5 fly.
I found a great deal on a slightly used fpv vapor setup and Ive been mounting the little micro cam on all kinds of things. So far the syma x5 has been the most fun since I can fly it inside and make laps around my apartment with the goggles on. But I am currently using the crappy little tx that came with the quad and lets just say it lacks a certain element of precision, so if I can get the x5 up with one of my devos It will give me so much more control!
I will attach the model file I am using, maybe I am missing something.
Thank you guys for all of your help! I really love this forum:)

The model files look fine. Since your module works with other models I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. Can you try binding with your buddy's quad, and he with yours?

What nightly build version are you using?
The SymaX protocol was included at nightly builds on about January. If you are using the "old" official nightly build from 2014/08 doesn't include this protocol.

Its actually his x5c, I traded him for it. So I know this particular quad works with deviation. I am going to open up my tx and double check all the wires. And make sure my 922 is binding correctly. Other than that I'm kind of dead in the water

Also I have the symax protocol so I'm assuming I have the newer nb fw. I'm pretty sure I updated it in February.

I think that the SymaX protocol has been changed since then. Increased to 9 channels to include headless mode of the X5SC/X5SW models, and a shift of some other channels (from ch5=flip, ch6=picture, ch7=video --to-- ch5 is not used, ch6=flip, ch7=picture, ch8=video, ch9=headless, I think). Wouldn't think that it would prevent basic binding though, but you might want to move to the newer build anyway.
