KN protocol broken in latest nightly? was created by beardyman
I just updated from v4.0.1-c3007aa to the very latest nightly, v4.0.1-a5a424c, and I am no longer able to bind my v931 to my Devo 7e. My Devo 10, which I haven't updated yet, still binds perfectly. Did something break in the KN protocol?

It seems to relate to the initialisation of the nrf24l01, because after selecting my v931 model file I am unable to bind to my Hisky helicopters without power cycling the transmitter.

Did you try pressing bind twice? I've had some issues with it not binding on the first try due to some currently unknown issue.
Also, please go into protocol options and check that Format Wl Toys is selected.
Finally, try selecting 11 channels for your model setup, as the updated protocol also implements trim channels.

Thanks for your reply. I have indeed tried pressing bind twice, and I have WLToys selected in protocol options, and 11 channels selected. But I still can't bind!

What modules do you have installed in your 7E?

I have multimodule installed, with a7105, nrf24l01 and cc2500. And the same in my Devo 10, which does work!

You are the first one I hear using KN with a multi module. Maybe you're right and it has something to do with the module initialization. I will try to make a build using the current protocol but with the old initialization code and post it in this thread. But since I'm quite busy this week it may take a couple of days for me to find some spare time.

Thanks so much for your help with this, and also for your work on the protocol. I can still fly the v931 with my Devo 10, which I will hold off from updating until the problem is resolved, so no need to rush if you're busy!

You're not doing anything wrong - it's still broken for me too. It seems to be related to our both using the multi-module. v4.0.1-c3007aa is still available, and this was working on my Devo 7E, and continues to work on my Devo 10.

Haven't gotten to fixing it yet, but since it seems related to the multimodule now it should only be a matter of adjusting the initialization. It's on my agenda for this week, so hang in there B)

Please try the build attached, whenever you have time. It has updated initialization code and is based on the current nightly.

P.S.: Don't worry too much about the timestamps of the file, I compiled them on a virtual machine which doesn't care too much about updating it's time when waking up from a saved state :P

P.P.S: Attachment limit on this board sucks....so here is a link:

Are you sure you updated DFU, protocol and also installed the latest filesystem? Please check again, if nothing works I'll dig some more in the code...
Other models with the NRF module are running flawless?

I initially installed all the files you uploaded, including the dfu, over v4.0.1-a5a424c. To double check I've installed the latest nightly, v4.0.1-9cce188, and installed your files on top, but I still can't get it to work. I'm using a fixed txid so I can use either my Devo 7e or my Devo 10, so I shouldn't need to bind, but nevertheless I have tried everything I can think of to bind without success. My Devo 10 still works perfectly on v4.0.1-c3007aa.

Having reinstalled everything, I'm pretty sure I haven't made a mistake and that it just doesn't work! I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but I'm pretty certain now!

Other NRF protocols are working fine - I've tried Hisky, v262 and CX-10.

Many thanks for that! I can confirm that I'm now able to bind to my v931 with both my Devo 7e and 10. And as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working correctly! :cheer:

Fantastic. In the end it seems that just a single line was missing. Would you mind testing another build for me after I cleaned up the code a little bit? If that works I will make a pull request for the Bugfix so it will appear in future nightlies.

Of course I will be more than happy to test another build. After all, you're the one doing all the hard work!
