Devo 10 Deviation install help was created by DocSampson
Hey guys,

Finally got a Devo 10 (white model) and wanted to install Deviation. Followed multiple tutorials but I keep getting stuck on the same part. After using the dfuse tool and installing the Deviation dfu file my tx will not go to usb mode (ent + power) and any text on the screen is garbled in the menus or pop-ups. I am typing this from my phone so I'm sorry that this is limited. I've tried now on 2 different machines. Each time I get that the tx was recognized and each time it says the flash was successful. While in update mode (ext + power) my computer recognizes the transmitter as STM followed by numbers. I have been at it for a day now and I'm getting a bit frustrated.

Hope this great community can help.

Could be a Windows driver issue.

I recommend you read the official deviation installation instructions in the Devo 10 user manual, which you can find in the sidebar on the left side of this page.

Does your ENT button work reliably? On my 10 it's a bit iffy.

The times I've seen garbled characters there's been a problem reading from the filesystem so that's consistent with the problem you're having.

If it seems like deviation is running but just showing garbled screens you could try navigating to the USB screen and enabling it that way. Use the emulator to determine the button presses to get there. If your ENT button is having issues that should become clear because you won't be able to navigate the menu.

through the garbled text i can tell that it has not taken the deviation file. it still shows devention on start up.

That's a different kettle of fish. Sounds like the install at least wrote enough memory to corrupt the text?

Have you tried more than one usb cable?
Try the deviation install tool to see if it has more success.
Try flashing the devention firmware to see if that works.

Here is where it all gets crazy. I rechecked today. When I use dfuse I can restore the library to get the text back. Turns out it is the devention install tool which corrupts the text. I'm currently on .8A
