First off, congratulations on making 4.0 happen, and congratulations to whoever updated the manual. I haven't read through it all yet, but it looks a lot more approachable than the 3.0 manual was. Every little refinement helps, and good job of taking the initiative.

And second, I see that 4.0 has USBHID support - do we know of any sims (open source, phoenix, realflight, etc) that support it, or is it just good for gamepad emulation?

(Now to wait for any show stopping bugs to show up before performing the two switch mod on my 7e and grooving right along.)

I know it works in Clearview as I tested the demo.

Phoenix requires a dongle that you get when you buy it,and so should be used with PPMOut instead.

I will reiterate before anyone else chimes in that it is not permissible to discuss the use of programs or 3rd-party hardware that enables piracy on these forums.

Heli-X is working - at least under Linux ;)
I am "flying" HELI-X 4.2 with six channels using 4 Sticks and 3 switches (FMOD1 FMODE2 for Idleup1 and Idleup2 and RDR_DR1 for Autorotation).
Maybe I can share the Model.ini later.

The good old FMS and open source CRRC will do after calibration of the sticks.

As far as I noticed USBHID and PPMout limited to 6 channels atm (ticket is filed for ch7 and ch8). Normally this issue do not matter for sim flying :) .

Ah, wasn't sure if Phoenix was dongle locked or if that was just an interface for USB-free devices. Glad to hear it should work with PPMOut though - I hadn't ever had that explicitly called out. Time to start scoping the classifieds... :)

I don't think USBHID of deviation is limited to 6 channels as it shows 12 channels under Linux.
It is more a compatibility issue with Windows.
Windows seems to expect digital (switches) and analog (sticks) signals.
But deviation is sending 12 analog signals, where switches could have any value (from -100 to +100) but no "switch" as such is shown to the USBHID.

I knw there is a way to define more than 6analog inputs and getWindows to recognize it, but I'm not sure what the right way is. Maybe I should use 'Joystick' instead of 'GamePad'. Maybe I shouldn't use 'slider' but should use some other analog object type.

I haven't been able to find clear documentation on how to do it, but I've seen examples, so I know it can be done.

Thanks. After a bunch of different things, the one on 'PPM RC to USB Interface' actually works (I wish I knew what I was doing and not just C&P). Issue resolved for now.
I did need to reduce the max # of channels to 8 though.

A free sim since some are already listed on this thread, rcdeskpilot.com I don't think it's so realistic to get a feel for RC. It's more a lot of fun. For beginners I suppose it all helps.

Hi,

A question about the state/status of the RF output while using the USBHID protocol,
is transmiter on or off?
Or/and can RF output be configured/controlled to be off completely by users so battery lasts longer when not needing to control Rx HW?
(Like when exploring DeviationTx menus and configuring system)

I have done the PA diode mod, but as manual states : 1uw is GUI lowest setting after PA is enabled.

Thanks, MHz.

necro post alert lol

iirc when you set the protocol to none it will not bring up any of the rf chips, i may be wrong though as i'm going off memory

Thanks,
8∆o my bad. Didn't look@ dates of my search results postings, (3 only).
Just picked the (this) last one I read 2 get answer before posting my ?

I think?? you're right though as to shut off any modules by picking 'none' for protocol (a models setup menu). It would make sense to do so if selected.

But GUI always displays a power level amount?? I think ??? Lol
8^}. will check on that, MHz.
