Which NRF24L01 module for 7e? was created by Pagres
I have been looking around for module for my 7e. The deviation manual doesn't really specify which type to get. It says to look for a 500m type for the a7105. EBay has quite a few small type nfr24l01 and another that comes with a screw on antenna that claims 1000m range. I don't plan to fly anything too large with 7e so 1000m is overkill. OK I guess if it doesn't kill battery to much. Anyway I am asking for a little advice on which one to get. What module are you all using to fly you wltoy 2x2 and v922 models?

There are 4 incompatible RF chips used in almost all 2.4GHz protocols on the market. CYRF6936 is embedded in Devo, A7105, nRF24L01, and CC2500 are possible extras. Each is responsible for several protocols.

V2x2 and V922 are served by nRF24L01. eBay sellers use all the RF chip names to extend visibility in the search results, but the first one is usually the right one. So search for "nRF24L01 PA" (PA stands for Power Amplifier, meaning it is long range module). Modules without PA can be very range limited, we're not talking about 1000m, rather 30m or so.

So you are recommending the 'PA' module be used? And it should be installed following the method described in Module installation pdf? Or do you recommend pulling one out of a appropriate tx instead. And thanks for the quick response!

For the nrf24L01, I would recommend one of the PA modules. They'll give you more range.

I personally like this one:
www.ebay.com/itm/400611170500?ssPageName...id=p3984.m1497.l2649

I like it because it comes with a u.fl connector. which gives a lot of flexibility as far as antenna choices and mounting location goes.

But I've used a few different ones now, and they all are basically the same design.

Hi All, my nRF24L01+ (same one as PB listed above) just arrived and I want to install it in my devo12 to use SLT. I'm a bit out of touch with installing these modules. (I tried cc2500 ages ago for frsky).

Is there a diagram for the wires/pins to install this one?

thanks very much!

Perfect. Thank you. I've read the installation document a couple times, but wasn't sure about the pins on that particular board.
Cheers!

So I have installed it in my devo12. I edit the TX.ini so that I have:

[modules]
enable-cyrf6936=B12
has_pa-cyrf6936=1
enable-a7105=None
has_pa-a7105=0
enable-cc2500=None
has_pa-cc2500=0
enable-nrf24l01=A13
has_pa-nrf24l01=1

When I try to bind by pressing the re-init button the TX reboots.

WooHoo!! Changed A13 to A14 and I was able to bind to my Heli-Max CP 100 !!

Now just have to figure out the channel order etc...

Important question about these modules... Are they getting power ALL the time? I know that if you power a module with no antenna connected you could burn out the TX module.... Do I have to keep an antenna on all the time or can I remove it when not using SLT?

By the way... THANK YOU! You guys are awesome for adding all these protocols... really great....

Channels are listed just as you have laid them out in the code... of course... Mine were out of wack because I was using it with an anylink and had throttle on channel one (ppm out) for some reason. I just matched up the inputs to your channel names and away she goes!!!

Again.. thanks.

Really want to know about the antennas though. Not sure where to mount it on my devo12 if it has to stay on all the time.

they aren't powered when not selected, but why not use something like this >> www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__1666...r_antenna_15_cm.html to leave it connected full time

Yeah I was thinking about that. I planned on using an external antenna because I may want to pick up a cheap Tx-R plane and want to make sure I get full range. I don't know how much difference it would really make....

ps. thanks for the answer about the power, by the way... ;)

I guess the danger is, that if I were to select a model that uses the new module and forget to put the antenna on first it could fry the module... hmmmm....

Would this module be correct? Decided just to buy the module instead of cracking into a perfectly good transmitter.

If I was you this is your best bet. It says for Hisky but will fly V944/V922/V955 and others since it is an NRF24L01+PA+LNA chip. I really like the antenna, low profile and will fit inside your devo very nicely.

Yea, and in contrast to @hogan's, it has PA, so the working distance is greatly enhanced.
