Note: The manual only details installing the official firmware. When I build the nightlies, the filesystem and firmware are separate.
So for a nightly build the steps are:

1) download and unzip deviation-devo7e-v4.0.1-6a63c8e.zip. install the dfu with the Walkera 'Dfuse Update' utility.
2) hold 'ENT' while powering on the Tx. copy the protocol directory from the firmware zip to the protocol dir on the Tx. you should see a directory called 'protocol' and ~15 files inside it all with a .mod extension
3) download and unzip deviation-devo7e-v4.0.1-6a63c8e.zip. copy the entire contents to the root directory of the Tx. you should now have 'protocol', 'media', 'models', 'layout' 'template', ... at the root directory, all with files inside. you should also have a errors.txt, datalog.bin, tx.ini and hardware.ini in the root directory.

Apologies if I missed this particular point about installing a test revision. I've been working with this TX, architecture, firmware and terminology for exactly 1 day. Okay, I'll report back after doing the above.

Thank you PB. I run Linux normally. I can dual boot to Win7 but it's a pain, and for some reason the Walkere Defuse utility wouldn't recognize the Tx on it.

I had to switch between the two OS's last time to complete the original install. Will have to retrace those steps.

Later.....

pb the builds i post although using the nightly code, include the full fs in the zip file like the official releases, I did it this way to save any problems when things like new files are added or changed (hardware.ini for example)

and vtdev it doesn't matter if you use a nightly build or an official build you have to flash the dfu file using either pb's jar file on Linux or dfuse on windows, this is the actual firmware file itself, then reboot the TX in USB drive mode and copy across the items for the filesystem to support said firmware. there is no need to copy the dfu to the USB drive as it has no purpose there.

Thanks Harry.

I used the PB's .jar last time, because Win7 install of Walkera software couldn't see the Tx. But then for some reason I had to come back and format in Win because Linux didn't recognize the device after the fus. Once formatted in Win my Linux could mount it and I copied the files across via Linux. Kind of a merry-go-round. I knew not to copy the dfu to the TX.

Will make the change now...

Well that was easy this time. The .jar ran through, and there wasn't a need to format.

The last install I tried, which was the new build, was still present -- that also surprised me. I guess I thought it would have been deleted.

I was going to replace it, but thought I'd first give it a try, out of curiosity. Well everything I tried before works now. Mode 2 works properly on DSM2, with a plane selected -- CH1 is THR and CH3 is ELE.

Oh one small thing -- if you want the throttle % indicator on the main screen to work, you need to change the model.ini to show CH1 rather than CH3.

Thank you for working with me.

That last one is exactly the kind of bug I want to get reported. I'll look into it.
