Devo8S and 2801Pro Rx issue. was created by Blayd
I'l try not to be too long winded here.
I've had 2 Devo8S Tx's for almost a year, and now that its winter upgrade time, I am planning on switching from my trusty 2801Pro Tx's to the Devo8S Tx's. I have bought 802Rx's for all my heli's..(4 of them ) but I was hoping to just use the already installed 2801Pro Rx's in them.
I've had Deviation installed on both Tx's for almost a year, ( v3.0 ) fooled with it a bit, but now I'm trying to get the heli's set up.
The heli's consist of my 2 Trex 500's, and HC500 and a Trex 700E that all fly on the 2801Pro right now, ( for the last 3 1/2 years..rock solid..)
When I went to bind to the first 2801 Pro Rx, I first had to erase the fixed ID, then it finally would bind.
PROBLEM...the servos are wrong. I'm using the standard GUI, the advanced is beyond me.
The elevator servo is now acting like my aileron servo, and vise versa.
Is this a common situation? Must I move the servos around in the Rx to get the right movements?
Sorry for the noob questions.
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure the stick mode is right?

The servo directions could have been changed in the old 2801-config. Have you looked there for changes to the default you must apply in the new configuration too?
Have you selected the correct swash plate type (120/120x)?

I started by setting the settings in the Devo8S, now running 4.0.1, to the same settings as were in the 2801Pro Tx. Things like servo reverse, gyro gain, etc...but never got very far after noticing that the servos arent right.
Yes, swash is 120° 3 servo.
After working in the advanced menu for awhile, I was able to get the elevator servo working as the elevator, the ail as ail, and the pitch as the pitch, but no throttle response. I just dont seem to be able to understand the advanced GUI, and was hoping the standard GUI would work.
Since I'm not running any other protocol other then Walkera, I guess I'm going to just switch the Rx's from the 2801Pro's that are in the heli's at the moment, to the 802Rx's I have. I was hoping that I'd be able to use Deviation and just keep the 2801Pro Rx's in the heli's.
Thanks though.

I'd appreciate it. I'd really like to be able to learn more on using the advanced GUI, but the manual reads like calc, and there doesnt seem to be any "how to" vids for learning. How cool would it be to have vids on how to.. set up complex mixers, ccpm, etc.
I'm still fooling with it, the standard GUI just wont set up the servos like the 2801 Pro Rx, but I'm still very lost in figuring this out. I'm no dummy, I build my own computers, write code for light ray-tracing, animation, I just happen to be old, and do better with comparitive learning.. do this, this happens, change this, you can do this.. etc...
I am fully confident in Deviation, just not myself....
I'll be checking back...meanwhile, I'm going to go and see if I can make heads or tails of the Advanced GUI, since this seems to be the way to get what I want. I have three 500's and a 700 I'd like to get Deviation to run the 2801Pro Rx's on. Otherwise, It's back to Devention and the 802Rx's.

Hey Blayd, good to see you here. The advanced gui is pretty cut and dry, to the point, DIY, type of interface. Once you learn the terms and what they do, you will find it very easy to setup more complex mixes and get things to do exactly what you want.

Coming from the 2801pro tx I know its a totally different approach than what your used to, but it explains alot of the things we would normally take for granted. Like the swash mixing for example.

I know you'll get it, your in the right place.
