I was looking at PhracturedBlue's module list page and it has two conflicting directions on wiring. In the table, it says:

Connect 6->9 and 7->8

Directly under the module's picture lower on the page it says:

Connect 8->GND and 9->3.3V. Leave 6 and 7 floating

Both indicate this applies to 4.0.1 and earlier. The illustration would imply that the first (6->9, 7->8 ) is correct, but I've seen pictures of the second online. Which is correct?

Regards,
Dennis

The table says:

(*) - Denotes that alternate connections are required for Deviation 4.0.1 or below. See Module section below for more info

That means you need to use something different from the table for 4.0.1 or earlier, and that those alternate instructions can be found below (in the image section)

So:
newer than 4.0.1: 6->9, 7->8
4.0.1: 8->GND, 9->3.3V

Thanks PB, I get it now. I just read it wrong.

Would nightly builds be considered later than 4.0.1? I see they are designated 4.0.1.91307. I was guessing it is considered 4.0.1.

What will be the advantage to the new configuration when it's implemented in code?

I believe I understand the current 4.0.1 configuration - it turns off the receiver on the module, correct?

Dennis

yes nightly builds are considered newer than 4.0.1
The main advantage is the ability to turn on the receiver, which otherwise is disabled. Currently that only affects telemetry on the Hubsan X4, but who know what we'll see in the future.
