Picking a CC2500 module was created by akcom
Hi all, hoping for a bit of clarification here. I'd like to be able to run the FrSky protocol without a second external antenna and I've got a question. Assuming I have to use the CC2500 I'm looking at antennas. I'd like to avoid an external duck antenna if possible. I'm shooting for park range here. I've basically got three options, as far as I see it:
1. this auxillary PCB antenna
2. this chip with an integrated PCB printed antenna
3. this whip antenna stuffed in the antenna housing in the devo 7e transmitter.

I'm just wondering which one will give me the best range?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hi akcom,
I'm not an expert on this argument, so I don't know which is the best about range.
I'm going to add the CC2500 module.
I've got the aliexpress module with the external antenna and I have the same doubt of you. I don't make a hole on the case.
While I'm studing this mod I read that the antenna may be inside the tx case in orizontal position...I don't remember where was this info.

Anybody know what happen if the new antenna is in the same plastic extension of the original one? Interferences?

wonder if this one would work?
www.ebay.com/itm/CC2500-PA-LNA-SI4432-NR...&hash=item19d726245b

best range i have seen thus far ...could pull off the plastic antenna shielding and possible keep it inside the tx case...

How come my links not working anymore??? we can't post links anymore?

OK search Ebay for this and you will find the one it won't let me post the link to...

Are you trying to avoid the duck, or drilling a hole in your Devo? If the latter, there's a replacement for the current nub that lets you add an antenna. That should get you much better range than anything inside the 7E, especially if you used a cloverleaf instead of a duck.

If the single board module becomes a reality, I'll probably print one for my 6S.

Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.

For 'park range', you may want to try an internally mounted sleeve dipole. Some (but not all) of the FrSky RX antennas are sleeve dipoles. I've had good luck with these mounted internally, up near the top of the case on my Devo 10. There are a couple of places where it's mostly unobstructed by anything other than plastic in the direction that matters. The sleeve dipole antennas can be recognized by the large-ish metal cylinder right below the stripped portion of the antenna, like this one: bit.ly/1wCh9wM

This is the CC2500 module I have on both my transmitters: bit.ly/1w08Z15
