Problem with A7105 and new wriring was created by Neuer_User
Hi

I just purchased a Devo 7e and installed the A7105-D03 module. I used the new wriring (see here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=30651761&postcount=2702 ).

I flashed two different firmwares: the latest nightly from the download area of this side (92e1705) and the one from team deviationtx here (9085f67 from 2015-01-30.

With both firmwares I got a range of 1-3m (at 150mW) at best. I measured the voltage on the tx and rx pin (coming from the GPIOs of the A7105). TX was always on GND and RX probably floating (between 1.35V and 2V).

I changed the wriring to the old style and the PA is working fine then.

So my question is: Is this a firmware problem? Or are my GPIOs defect?

Which firmware is proven to work nicely with the new wriring?

Have I maybe done something wrong?

Thanks for any help. I am totally new to this.

Michael

New wiring and v4.0.1-92e1705 is right.
The old wiring is not recommended with the nightly, only with v4.0.1.

This range you should even get at 100uW.
Check your wiring. Pin 2&3 are not really filled up with solder.

Edit:
Get GND from the RF module not from below at the pcb board.
It would be worth a try.

Thanks for the ideas.

Concerning Pin 2&3: If I use max power, I have a range of 1-3m. That is not much, but shows that (serial) communication with the module is working. That should not be possible if these pins are not connected well enough.

Also, when I switch to the old wriring (which inferes only RX and TX), everything works ok. So, I guess it is really only the GPIOs that are not working. It seems the questions is: Are the GPIOs damaged? Or do I have a SW or configuration related problem? (Or: Are there different A7105-D03 modules available?)

There are three modules now:
A7105-D03, XL7105-D03 and XL7105-D03B with imprinted wiring instruction
for the old wiring.

Are there any differences with the B type? Who has such a module working with new wiring (GPIO)?

I have my XL7105-D03B from Banggood installed last week with the new style wiring, but I have not tested yet, because I have not any compatible quadcopter to test it so far :P
Really, I installed the module because I had some free time at work last week and decided to use these free time installing the A7150 at my company's lab.
I need to buy an H107L
But only to test the module is working  , not because the microquads are soooo adictives
:)

Well, as I haven't been able to find any SW or config related error I did, I have decided to order another A7105-D03. I took this one here:
www.banggood.com/XL7105-D03-A7105-Modifi...Flysky-p-922603.html

Last time I took the one looking identical except with attached wire antenna.

Let's see, if the new module will work correctly with the new wiring. Until then, I will leave the current module in with the old wriring.

These is the exactly SKU I ordered some weeks ago, and I received the XL7105-D03B with the antenna soldered, same as the other SKU.
Yesterday, I ordered a Hubsan X4. I will update when receive it.

There is no reliability with these photos and they deliver what is in stock.
Last year I got this, but with a different imprint on the pcb.
www.banggood.com/A7105-Wireless-RF-2_4GH...Module-p-909404.html

With the normal search function you will not find it.

Yes, I ordered the cheap SKU and received the same as the customer photos at your product link.

Yes, XL7105-D03B with antenna (perfectly tunned to 31 mm) and with QC Sticker at the shield.

Ok, I am curious how it will work.
BTW, to be sure, take GND from the GND pin of the CYRF and not from the main pcb. That´s what Neuer_User did....who knows...

Yeah, will be interesting to see, if there is a different type of module with non-working GPIOs.

No, it would be great, if you could first try it with GND from the main pcb. So we have the same wriring.
Actually, I don't think it will make any difference. There is only one GND on the A7105 and all signals are relative to this GND. RXen and TXen are not interfaced with anything from the main board but everything is internal to the module. Theoretically, it cannot make any difference what GND you take.

Let's see what comes out.

Cheers

Michael

Agree,theoretically you are right.
But MY module is working, so why should I rewire? There is not only one
added module inside... too much work.

ABSOLUTELY. I wasn't addressing you here. I meant it for Durete, as you told him to wire it to the internal module. Sorry for the confusion.

I have my a7105 grounded to the shield of the internal module.
We will see how it works when receive my Hubsan X4 in about 2-3 weeks.
I think the ground point is not the problem...

That´s the way I wired the GND on my nRF24L01+,... and no issues.

Ok, just to confirm I received a new H107L, but only to test the A7105-D03B module ... :P
Bind and fly perfect with my module, wired as the new style (using GPIO1 and GPIO2).
At 100uW I can reach about 10 meters without issues.
BTW, I don't like nothing at all how this thing fly :(
It's my unit? Or all the Hubsan X4 flies drifting a lot, and not stable for too much time? This thing remembers me when you fly a Nano size quad with vibrations.
I don't know...

did you calibrate the quad?

Yes, about 20 times :)
I will test with different props, I guess the Hubsan props are not well balanced and produces lots of vibrations messing the Gyro.
