I soldered in the nrf board, enabled it in the text file. it seems to be working on the controller end. I have a brand new hisky fbl100 bnf. I can't get it to bind. I don't know if I am missing something. can someone explain the process I have been searching for an hour online and can't find much info. I'm really excited to fly my new heli.

so far I have selected the fbl80 model (that is the closet config I could find.) and tried to bind. nothing. I also tried to bind it as a new model, selected heli. hisky protocol, hit bind, restarted etc. I can't figure it out?

Ok first the basics, the HiSky protocol doesn't have a "*" next to it does it?

What are you trying? Usually the process is setup the tx and have the cursor on the bind button, plug in heli, wait ~3 sec then hit bind. Please describe the process you're using.

no *

I tried battery, 3 seconds, hit bind nothing. is there anyway to check the module is soldered correctly?

I downloaded a fbl80 config that should be close enough right? I am pretty confused on the deviation software.

I can bind my super cp. if that gives any helpful info

If there's no * and it doesn't give you an error message at power up its installed correctly.

Do you have the stock tx? These little toy grade models don't bind the same way say a spektrum RX does, they're very picky. I don't have a HiSky model any more and I don't remember exactly what it took.

Have you set a fixed ID or left it blank? Have you tried waiting longer / shorter? You've gotta get it just perfect.

first time it had a fixed ID, I then tried it there after blank, I have tried it probably 20 times.

when I mounted the board it had a wire antenna, I cut it so it would fit in the devo 7e antenna slot, that is the correct way to do it right?

What do you mean cut the antenna? You've got to have the antenna hooked up or you'll kill the module!

the antenna cable, was like 6 inches long, as it was being removed from the plastic antenna it came with the person helping me cut it like 2 inches long, it is plugged into the chip. would that cause any issue?

Absolutely, this may not be your ONLY issue but there's a good chance it is. Antenna are VERY PICKY and must be tuned exactly perfect, was it a single straight wire whip or a shielded wire with a dipole on the end?

Post a pic of your antenna and we can tell you if how you've cut it is ok or not.

This is what was cut off, the piece in the controller is about 2 inches long, can I just solder it back together if this is issue? How do I get this piece into antenna housing on devo7e

the antenna has a small connector where it connects to board, similar to connector for wifi chip in a laptop, then about 6 inches of black wire, then a round metal piece about 3/16 round and 1 inch long. then about 1.5-2 inch piece of wire with clear plastic.

Which end did you cut? Cutting the connector is ok, cutting the dipole is not.

Did your board come with the antenna in this kit?

NRF24l01 @ Banggood

If so, you need to order another similar antenna. I have used COAXRF.com for quick service. Match up the connector on your board (which sounds like it is a u.fl) with the 2.4ghz antenna you need... You can call them for advice. Running the board without an antenna or with the wrong one may damage the board.

Just to clarify, if you cut the connector off and soldered the cable (both the shield and the conductor) on to the board you'll be ok, if you cut the big thing off the end you've ruined it.

It looks very similar to the antenna above, but it has no rubber on the thicker part (my has a 3/16 by inch long piece of metal), it is just metal, it came in a plastic antenna. The connector got cut off with about 2 inches of wire.

to make sure I understand, I need to take the piece of antenna that got cut off, and solder that to the connector on the board and it may be okay, if not I need to buy new board or antenna?

Yea you've got it, the metal thing is the actual important part. It's the dipole part of the antenna. Try using it. You'll need to ensure polarity is correct, look at the piece with tunconnector still on it to see which part of the connector is the shield and which is the conductor and then try to determine the surface mounted plug's polarity so you can then remove the SMD plug, strip the insulation and solder directly to those pads.

If I want to make sure it works, am I better off just buying a new antenna? Or should I get the whole board antenna package?
