that isn't the voltage regulator. That is the power-amp, and it can get quite warm I think (it is one of the primary consumers of power on the transmitter)

Other than "slowly turns off" what exactly is it doing? Does it bind? I wonder if this could of been related to my problem I had a few months back

I was able to fix my issue and get it working again by sending 5V directly to the module.

If the only issue is that the tx takes time to turn off, it is likely that your switch is going bad. The power sequence on the devo radio is somewhat complicated (due to wanting to save settings before power off). If the switch doesn't make a good connection, it can take time for the capacitor to discharge, resulting in a slow power-off.
If you have other issues, then the problem may indeed be elsewhere though.

Without the module it stays on.
With plugged in module it binds, about 10 seconds later it loose binding and the backlight gets week.
After 20 seconds there is nothing more on the screen.
When the backlight gets week and I disconnect the module all ist good again.
