Trainer not working, missing component?

I'm trying to get SmartPropoPlus working with my devo 7E.

So plugging in the 3.5mm plug and powering on the TX doesn't show any sort of trainer icon as shown in the manual. Also, I don't get any signal in my mic port of my PC. Opening it up, it looks like there is bare pads near the plug, is my transmitter missing a resistor/capacitor?

You are not clear. Are you running Deviation or the stock firmware?
(BTW: I doubt you are missing any components, manufacturers leave blank pads for lots of reasons.)

In that case, I'm not sure what you mean by a *trainer icon*. I would guess that you should setup a new model and set PPM as the protocol.
