Walkera Receiver Information was created by marcoose
Hi All,
I don't know if most people using Deviation are sticking with Walkera stuff or not... obviously a big feature is the extra protocols and modules. However, for a scratch build I figure I might as well go with a Walkera RX since the price fairly comparable and it is well supported.
I was wondering if anybody knows where to find a comparsion chart with specs on all the various Walkera receivers, or if we could add a new one to Google docs to go with the supported models.
For instance there are all sorts of new PPM receivers for the various quads Walkera has (e.g. RX703A) but the documentation on them is very sparse. It would be nice to have a sheet showing how many channels each has or what other features there are (e.g. the one for the Scout has a telemetry port on it).

Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.

Well, I don't see the Walkera Rx's with good prices. These days, they seem to be replacement parts for quads, and around the same price/size as Spektrum's DSMx Rx's - and the latter have good documentation and support, at least in the US. I'd certainly prefer those to the Walkera Rx's.
From watching the Forums, most people are going with the DSM clone Rx's, because the price is a lot better than the Walkera parts. I've used a number of those without problems, though others report issues with them. On the other hand, the manual documents problems I have seen with licensed Spektrum Rx's, so who can say.
The FrSky D series seems to be getting traction recently, because of the rock-solid performance and lower-cost telemetry. I'm in the latter camp myself. The only downside is that we only support 8 channels on them, so my next aerial camera platform (which needs a 12-channel Rx) will probably go back to the one of the DSM clones. Especially since the Spektrum 12-channel Rx's cost an order of magnitude more, and can't be used anyway since X-plus is proprietary whereas the CPPM and S-BUS used by the clones is used in various flight controllers.
